The rising rate of hunger in Nigeria has become a serious concern, and it is closely tied to broader economic challenges facing the country. High unemployment and underemployment mean that many people either have no steady source of income or earn far less than what is required to meet basic needs. At the same time, persistent inflation has driven up the cost of food, transportation, and other essentials, making it increasingly difficult for families to afford regular, nutritious meals.

In light of these challenges, there is an urgent need for practical, community-driven solutions. Rather than waiting solely for large-scale interventions, local initiatives can play a vital role in easing the burden on vulnerable families. One such effort is the Port-Harcourt Food Bank’s Food Finder Program.
