WHY WE DON'T PRAY FOR FAITH
Have you ever caught yourself praying, "Lord, give me more faith" or "Lord, increase my faith"?
According to the Word, praying for faith is actually a prayer of unbelief!
If you’ve known a friend for years and suddenly ask them to "give you faith" in them, it’s an insult. In the same way, asking God for faith insults the finished work of Christ.
Here is why we don't need to pray for faith anymore:
1. You Are Already a Believer (A "Believing One")
Before Pentecost, people struggled with doubt. But through Christ, you are a New Creation. You don’t need to beg for what you already are. The moment you accepted Christ, you became a possessor of Eternal Life (John 6:47).
2. You Are Already Blessed
Ephesians 1:3 says God has blessed us with every spiritual blessing. He doesn’t say we will be blessed if we believe; we are blessed because we are believers.
3. Stop Praying for What You Already Possess
Much of our prayer life is spent begging for things God already gave us. For example, we don't need to beg for healing. Isaiah 53:5 states: "By His stripes we are healed." It is already done! God’s response to those prayers is: "I already did it. Just look up and thank Me."
4. You Have the "Power of Attorney"
Through righteousness, you have a legal right to stand in the Father’s presence (Hebrews 4:16) without guilt, inferiority, or sin-consciousness. You have the legal right to use the Name of Jesus. You and Jesus are one—the Vine and the branches!
5. All Things Are Already Yours
1 Corinthians 3:21 declares, "All things are yours." Praying for faith is an absurdity when you are a legal child of God. Did Jesus ever ask the Father for more faith? No.
What should we do instead?
Instead of praying for faith, get established in the faith (Colossians 2:6). Feed on the Word, study your rights in Christ, and act on them. Shift your prayer life from begging for faith to fellowshipping with the Father and thanking Him for the inheritance you already own!
