Today, YAHA Global Initiative for SDGs joins the global community to commemorate World AIDS Day 2025, standing in solidarity with all people living with, affected by, or vulnerable to HIV. This year's WHO theme, “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response,” calls the world to refocus, rebuild, and accelerate progress toward ending AIDS as a public health threat.

Despite persistent challenges — service disruptions, funding gaps, inequalities, and stigma — we believe in the power of resilient communities, compassionate leadership, and evidence-based action. The journey to ending AIDS is not just a health mandate; it is a human rights imperative.

Knowledge and access to prevention tools — including condoms, education, and regular testing — remain essential pillars of HIV control.

Four brilliant teenage girls from Nigeria stunned the world when they created an innovative generator powered by urine. Their design works by extracting hydrogen from urine through electrolysis, then filtering and purifying the gas before using it to power a generator. With just one liter of urine, the device can produce up to six hours of electricity — a remarkable achievement in a country struggling with frequent power outages.

While still a prototype, the invention highlights the power of youthful creativity and the potential of alternative energy sources in regions where electricity remains unreliable. The project sparked global conversation about renewable energy, waste-to-power solutions, and the importance of supporting young inventors who dare to think differently.
