It is on record that in 1906 Rev. Father Duhaze and Rev. Father Lutz visited Eze Nri Obalike in Nri, in the interior part of Igbo land to discuss religion, education and economy in Igbo land. The visit was described as an attack on the citadel of Satan.
They insisted that Eze Nri must cooperate with the British Government to enable bring trade, religion and education to Igbo land and that he should liberate the Igbos by performing the ritual of abrogating the rules of abomination(Nso na aru) , relating to earth cult (Isube nso ana) otherwise, the government might attack Nri militarily. Within the year, the administrator sent in another officer to discuss the modality of (Isube nso ana).
Eze Nri, threatened with military bombardment if he did not comply, knowing their pedigree for violence against Ndigbo, such as massacres of Ndi Arochukwu, Obosi, Onitsha, Oguta and other Igbo people.
In 1910, he was ordered by the District administrator to attend a meeting of Igbo leaders at Awka, there he was humiliated and desecrated before the people. In 1911, over 200 Igbo leaders congregated at Eke market square Nri, at the order of the District Offficer, Eze Nri Obalike functionarily performed the (Nsube nso) under duress. The District Officer told the Igbo leaders in English, which was interpreted in Igbo, go to your towns, you are no more under Eze Nri, you are under the king of England, Igbos have no King(Igbo enwe Eze)
The abrogated (nso ana) took place on this day 28th August 1911, Eke market day. The Colonial Administrator announced to the bewilderment of Igbo leaders that he has destroyed the citadel of the Satan, that from now, he has dethroned the Eze Nri, (Igbo Enwere Eze) Igbos have no King, he told them that they will now take orders from the king of England. He banned Eze Nri from parading himself as a king, must not travel outside Nri, etc.
"Isube Nso na Aru" is a ritual whereby something or act which is previously considered abomination is now declared acceptable....Many Aru in Igbo land was made acceptable through this way...The even of Nri was famous due to the position of Eze Ani Nri (Priest of Ani) in Igbo land...but each town in Igbo Land faced same desecration by the Colonial Forces and the Church...Many Aja ani of thousands of Igbo towns were destroyed and that is why thousands of Igbo town today does not have Aja Ani...Igbos don't understand the evil that is the Church.
These events were never to be taught in your history as such the intention will be that such history will disappear and the descendants( now Us) will be lost in finding their way back to their roots.
What is going on in Igbo land is a well established and clear minded campaign...and while most Igbos have forgotten..The Church tasked with this mandate and if can be said ..is the ONLY mandate of the CHurch...has been very efficient and dedicated in destroying every trace of the Igbo Spirituality....every year they attack and destroy deities in Igbo land..hoping by accumulation OVER TIME to exterminate such Spiritual Systems all over IGBO LAND...the deities once destroyed will be forgotten as there is no organised and efficient cordination of Ndi Odinala to restore it back...This is well calculated..because once the Eze dies...the deities will be forgotten and no longer restored..and the Military campaign continues.
From these incidents it gave rise to the phenomenon we have in Igbo land where a deity is seen as repulsive and evil by the same people who use to embrace such deity a generation earlier. THIS CAMPAIGN HAS NEVER STOPPED...it is still ongoing...deities were targeted and burnt all over land LAST YEAR...many are being cased and marked for destruction this year as well and they will succeed.
One will now ask...why are they so desperate to remove Nso na Aru....?
Why do they want Aru to be everywhere in Ala Igbo ?
What would they gain and what would we lose if Ndi Igbo keeps doing ARU without fear of repercussion because such deities tasked with punishing those that did abomination were destroyed ?
Let's think about it...and also make enquires into our own hometown and find out how the church destroyed most of our deities and the time frame.
Amosu bu Uka...Uka bu Amosu....Amosu na eri Igbo!!
all should keep the above history in mind as we deliberate and ponder this #
