REPORT ON THE VISIT TO OWERRI CORRECTIONAL CENTRE BY EMEKUKU PARTICULAR COUNCIL.

25th March, 2026.

In the spirit of charity, compassion, and service to humanity, the Emekuku Particular Council embarked on a humanitarian visit to the Owerri Correctional Centre. This noble outreach was aimed at reaching out to inmates, providing material support, and sharing love and hope with those in confinement.

The successful ex*****on of this visit was made possible through the support and coordination of the Owerri Central Council, ably led by Bro. Emma Nwagwu. The initiative was further strengthened through the dedicated efforts of the Prison Apostolate Committee under the leadership of Sis. Maureen Egwedike, whose commitment ensured proper planning and smooth coordination of activities.

The Owerri Central Council wish to thank the president of Emekuku Particular Council, Bro. Stanislaus Njoku, whose generosity and leadership were instrumental in providing the items distributed during the visit. The materials donated included essential food items, toiletries, and other basic necessities aimed at improving the welfare of the inmates.

The visit to the Owerri Correctional Centre by the Emekuku Particular Council was a remarkable success. It served as a powerful reminder of the importance of reaching out to the less privileged and those in difficult circumstances.

Our council remains committed to repositioning agenda through acts of kindness and encourages other vincentians to support humanitarian efforts within correctional facilities whenever they're called upon through their Particular Councils.

LOVE IN ACTION: Ohaji Particular Council Spreads Hope, Heals Wounds, and Uplifts Souls

26th July, 2025.

In a profound display of compassion and service, the Ohaji Particular Council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Owerri Central Council, under the vibrant leadership of Sis. Esther Ihemeje, Chairperson of the Hospital Visitation Committee, embarked on a heart-touching mission to General Hospital Umuokanne and the Umuokanne Health Centre.

With hearts full of love and hands extended in generosity, the Vincentians ministered to patients through soul-lifting prayers, heartfelt counseling, and the distribution of essential items and gifts. It was not just a visit, it was a revival of hope for many in the hospitals visited.

In a remarkable act of mercy, the Vincentians adopted a leg cancer-stricken woman whose deteriorating condition demanded urgent support. Their swift response after an on-the-spot investigation exemplified what it truly means to see Christ in the suffering.

Simultaneously, the flame of charity was burning bright as Vincentians from St. Joseph Chaplaincy, Imo State University extended their love to patients at Holy Family Hospital, Ikenegbu, showing once again that no corner is too far for the hands of love to reach.

These charity missions are not mere gestures, they are living testimonies of the Gospel, inspired by Matthew 25 and the timeless legacy of St. Vincent de Paul and Blessed Frédéric Ozanam.

In a moving expression of gratitude, Bro. Emma Nwagwu, President of Owerri Central Council, praised the Vincentians for their unwavering spirit of compassion and for championing the Council’s repositioning agenda with renewed energy and faith-driven purpose.

Indeed, Vincentians are not just called, they are sent. And in every step, love leads the way.

BUILDING CAPACITY, STRENGTHENING STRUCTURE: ANNUAL REPORT WRITING TRAINING HELD IN OWERRI CENTRAL COUNCIL.

In pursuit of excellence and accountability under the Reposition Agenda, the Owerri Central Council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVP) held a landmark one-day Report Writing Training today, Sunday, 29th June 2025, for all conference officers.

Approved by the Owerri Metro Council President, Sis. Nneoma Claudia Mgbudom, the training was spearheaded by seasoned Metro Council trainers, Bro. Ikechukwu Nwaode and Bro. Emma Nwagwu, who broke down the nitty-gritty of SSVP income and expenditure subheads, statutory dues, and non-financial statistical reports with absolute clarity.

Participants were reoriented on the foundational truth: "The Conference is the heartbeat of the SSVP."

From works of conferences, officers, meetings, visitations, to financial records, nothing was left untouched.

The message was clear: Transparency and structure are non-negotiable.

Special commendation goes to the Training Committee of OWCC for their exceptional planning, and to the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee, led by Sis. Ngozi Emenyeonu, for maintaining order throughout the session.

An impressive 98 conference representatives across the central council were in attendance, proof that we are indeed repositioning with purpose.

We are not just keeping records; we are writing our legacy.

In service,
Bro. Emma Nwagwu
