Reminder 🤍

It's humbling to know that God looks at our hearts more than the works of our hands. He knows our motivation and He knows if we are serving out of love for Him or out of a sense of pride.

I love this book by Mariann Lopera of She Writes For Jesus kahit hindi na ako 20s 😂.

This is a reminder for Christian content creators like me,

Let’s continue to create content according to God’s leading, not just according to what is trending. I’m not saying that it’s wrong to use trends or to be equipped with how the algorithm works, sometimes, they’re really useful to get the word of God out there. BUT it shouldn’t be our focus.

I pray that we will continue to move not based on what will get the most shares, but we will strive to just be faithful to the Gospel. Preach what needs to be preached, don’t water down the truth for the sake of relevance, and may our focus not only on the growth of our followers but on Christ alone.

This is something that we should always remember: we are not here to build our platforms but in whatever platforms that we have, Jesus should be the One who’ll be lifted up.

I pray that, whether you have your own blog or thinking of starting one, your goal is to be a vessel of God’s word. Be a good steward of the Gospel.

UNPROFITABLE SERVANTS.

Earnest and Wisdom were colleagues in the same ministry. Both completed training in the same school. As friends, they had some things in common but Earnest was the public type while Wisdom was more in the background. Earnest seemed to have more audience than Wisdom. Unlike Earnest, Wisdom had the gift of service which did not necessarily bring him out. Struggling to also be known, as a result he battled with envy, jealousy and comparison. Wisdom battled with these for a while until he discovered his worth in Christ. Coming to the knowledge that God chose him by mercy brought about deliverance from these lies that the devil had sold to him.

Many of us are like Wisdom in different ways. Especially in ministry, we are quick to forget that we are servants in God's vineyard. And the fact that we are called is a privilege. We are prone to look at others and envy them in their work. This in turn results to unfulfilled longings and discontentment. It further kills our joy and breaks relationships. It breeds selfishness and unbelief.

Jesus told the parable of the unprofitable servants. A master having servants and their duty is nothing but to serve. They don't question the master as to what they are to get in return because they know they are undeserving of anything. Rather, after serving their master, they are to say, we are unprofitable servants. We have done our duty.

"So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’ ”
Luke 17:10 NIV

God is our Master. He is the owner of the gifts and decides who to give. We have been given various gifts to be used for His glory and praise alone. What is expected of us is that we use our gifts to build one another until all come to maturity in Christ .

God knows our ability. He is not a waster of resources. He gives each man according to his ability. Each of us has been given grace equal to the task, yet by the same Holy Spirit. It was the same power at work In Earnest that was also at work in Wisdom.

When we embrace our gifts and serve with all joy, there will be nothing like competition. It is one God we serve and we will receive the same commendation from the Lord. "Well done, good and faithful servant".

Discontentment kills our joy and Christ is concerned about that. That is why He rebuked Peter when he was bothered about John's work. We cannot also forget that naturally, we were sinners deserving of God's wrath. There was nothing good about us except to be condemned. But He showed us mercy and saved us by His grace. Now, in Christ, we are privileged to be channels for His use.

Beloved, it is not your grace but His, the wisdom to work does not come from you, neither the utterance nor the people. Everything comes from the Lord. What do we have that we didn't receive?

Are you struggling with your work? Do you envy others? Is comparison getting a grip over you? Then take your burdens to Christ. He will give you rest for your soul. May we always remain in the reality that we are nothing but UNPROFITABLE SERVANTS.

Nancy is a sincere Christian who loves the Lord. She wasn't aware that she has a perfectionist nature. Although she desires to please the Lord, yet it was not easy fixing her eyes on where the Lord has placed her. Many times, she considers God's gifts as not enough. She desire to be like others at the limelight though she clearly knew that God wants her to be at the back as a silent laborer. It took God's mercy for her to recognize her depravity and God's grace lavished on her to serve his people.

Comparison is one of the cancer eating up the body of the Christ. Everyone desires to be appreciated, preferred above others, admired, etc.

However, The problem of man is his depravity. The heart of man has tendency to breed all kinds of evil. Jealousy, envy, greed, etc. We all have a nature of sin. A heart that is self seeking rather than God-pleasing. Thank God for the finished work of Christ on the cross. This is where every heart must be crucified and transformed. Jesus Christ died to set our hearts free from every kind of sin.

Comparison is a sign of ingratitude, pride and lack of contentment. It is indirectly seeing God as insufficient. God who made us all in his image knows us more than we know ourselves.
He knows our strength and weaknesses because he is our creator. The way he made us is good and perfect. When we compare ourselves to others, we are indirectly rejecting his rule over us. By this way, we will never live for his glory. Instead, we will only be living for men.

To avoid this syndrome, we must recognize our depravity and the put our faith in the finished work of Christ.
We must recognize the Lordship of Christ above everything.
We must understand that our purpose of existence is not for ourselves but for the glory of God alone.
We must understand our unworthiness to serve him. It is fulfilling when you realized that being a servant is a privilege.

We must understand the uniqueness of every gifting in us and serve the body of Christ.
We must never look down on anyone no matter who they are.
Understand that your journey is different from others no matter the goal.
Keep your eyes on the one who has called you, he is faithful to keep you from falling.

In conclusion, we are undeserving people. Everything we have is a gift and all belongs to the Lord. It's not about you nor I. It's about him who gave his life as ransom for our depraved soul. Like John, he must increase and we must decrease.
