Frontline governorship aspirant in Imo State, Sir Stanley Amuchie, has said if elected governor of the state in 2019, he would focus on three key areas namely industrialisation, agriculture and healthcare.

He also identified education as another sector that would receive priority attention if given the mandate.
Sir Stanley, a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), was speaking on Friday at a ‘Face2Face’ parley organised in Owerri, the Imo State capital, by the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ).

He said if elected governor, his administration would how to revive the economy of Imo State and take it to greater heights.

He stated that the song about Imo State is no longer good to the ears, adding that “Imo State was leading in education, industrialisation and cleanliness” but that the reverse has been the case for some years now.

According to him, we can’t be folding our hands and watch while lamenting about bad leadership. “I have the genuine urge to lead Imo State because I have something to contribute”, he declared.

“We are in critical condition as a state and we need a person with good understanding of financial management at this critical time. People ask me why leaving a good job for a risky and unpredictable venture. To this, my answer is simple: to salvage of Imo State.

“We need to create small businesses to train our young people so that on graduation they will be gainfully engaged. We will create the enabling environment for the private sector to establish industries.

“We will create a good environment so that those with good ideas will thrive in their businesses.

“We will provide a good security system in the state where people will be comfortable to do their businesses”, he told the correspondents.

Sir Stanley noted that Imo State currently has the least in terms of IGR (Internally Generated Revenue) in the South East which, he said is only a recent development. He said that with his wealth of experience the situation would be reversed, adding that it would no longer be business as usual.

He gave a glimpse of his career trajectory, which commenced in 1995 at Arthur Anderson (now KPMG Professional Services) after graduating from the University of Benin with First Class in Industrial Chemistry. It was at Arthur Anderson that he delved into accounting and later moved to Zenith Bank Group in 2000 where he rose through the ranks to become the Chief Financial Officer.
He has been in community service, and not too long ago, his effort was rewarded when he bagged the Imo State Man of the Year Award conferred on him by ISTDAL (Imo State Towns Development Association), Lagos.

He said he founded the Good Light Foundation which has brought smiles on the faces of many.
He added that the foundation pays school fees and hospital bills for indigent people and has helped to establish businesses for many.

In the area of security, he said the foundation rebuilt and equipped the Uvuru Police Station, which has led to it being upgraded to an area command. He noted that the Area Command is now the best in Imo State in terms of equipment and amenities it has as a result of the reconstruction undertaken by Good Light Foundation.

He further said he has helped about 300 persons to secure jobs across the board, adding that he would do more if given the opportunity to become governor of Imo State next year.

• Tasks NANS on credible regime in Imo State
Citing alleged increasing poverty level, decrease in human capital development, increasing decay of infrastructure and huge debt profile, a former General Manager/Group Zonal Head of Zenith Bank Plc, Mr. Stanley Amuchie, has thrown his hat in the ring to take over the leadership of Imo State.
Amuchie, who is a governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), made the declaration recently during his investiture as the Grand Patron of National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS), Zone B Secretariat, by the association at Bohn Cynthia Luxuria, Owerri.

The ex-banker urged NANS, led by its Zonal Coordinator for the Southeast and South-South geopolitical zone, Okereke Godson C. Bishop, to work assiduously to ensure that a credible leadership was enthroned in Imo State to turn around the political, economic and social fortunes of the state for the better.

While appreciating the proactive disposition of NANS in organising the event, Amuchie said he was worried by the increasing level of poverty, resulting in deaths, inability of the people of the state to either take care of the medical bills or go to hospitals, when they are sick, stressing that Imo required new, positive ideas in governance anchored on a people-driven development paradigm.

According to him, I cherish this award and for life. I decided to leave my job to seek the governorship of Imo State because I am ready to sacrifice whatever comfort I have. The people are poor; people are dying, people cannot pay hospital bills. The state must find a way of doing things right. If we do, people will not steal money while in office. People will decide how development will be in this state.”

While decrying the huge debt profile of the state, Amuchie urged the student leaders to “wake up and help enthrone good leadership. We are going to bring new ideas into governance. I had to give up my job. I felt I had the urge to serve the people of Imo State.”

Amuchie reminded the students that in 1989 when he attained First Class in Industrial Chemistry of the University of Benin and Fellow of the Institute of Chattered Accountants of Nigeria, things were not as hard as now and urged people to discountenance fake stories and falsehoods that he was being sponsored by the incumbent, governor, Okorocha.

Denying that he had ever met with Okorocha or cut corners, the former bank executive declared: “Those are fake stories that people should disregard. I have never met with the governor. I have not sat with him anywhere.

Those are funny stories from the pit of hell. The indebtedness of this state are from the Excess Crude Account and bailout loans where deductions are made. No matter who is there, it is to be paid because those loans have been taken. I needed to make that clarification.”

Earlier in their address, the Zonal Coordinator of NANS, Okereke and the National President of NANS, Bamidele Danielson Apkan, represented by the Vice President, National Affairs of the association, Chidi Ilogede, said the choice of Amuchie for the conferment was due to his distinguished career in the banking sector and humanitarian gestures. He noted that only the President of Nigeria had received similar honour. The association promised to participate actively to enthrone credible leadership at all levels of governance in the next elections.

APGA SURE WAY OF WINNING THE IMO STATE GENERAL ELECTION:

Having seen the array of the people in the race for Imo governorship, i begin to search for that governor Imo really needs. Today more of the attentions have gone to APGA where well above 25 aspirants parade with some good level of qualitative education and exposure.

It becomes even a matter of deep thought to pick the best out of them. I mean the best person with good educational background and character. No wonder, each time i check my certificate, it says; CERTIFY BOTH IN LEARNING AND CHARACTER.

It is true they are all coming from somewhere, but i find the profile of a man fascinating. A man who has no political nor career dent. Someone who has the capacity and leadership sagacity to win election for the party. I see that man in Sir Stanley Amuchie. My reasons the cap fits him will be numbered;

1. Highly Cerebral – Proven record of academic excellence. First Class Honours Degree. Enough of mediocrity in public service. The outcome of our leadership is the product of the minds we put in office. Let those who have excelled academically be given the mantle.

2. Boardroom Maestro -- Sir Stanley Chiedoziem Amuchie has held several board positions in Zenith Bank Plc.

3. Astute Financial Manager – At this time of lean financial resources, a renowned financial manager is required to mobilise resources for the development of Imo State. Sir Amuchie was until very recently the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Zenith Bank Plc, of cause, the Nigeria’s largest bank by Tier 1 Capital.

4. Planner Per Excellence – The importance of planning in every facet of life cannot be overemphasised. Sir Stanley was Group Head of Financial Control and Strategic Planning Department of Zenith Bank until very recently. The superb performance of the financial powerhouse would not be possible without planning. IMO state at this point of economic mess needs a strategic hand to see the beam of economic light

5. Philanthropist Extraordinaire – Without any thought of getting involved in partisan politics, Sir Stanley Amuchie’s genuine humanitarian disposition came to the fore through the Goodlight Foundation.

6. Reputation – In Igbo land, reputation is important as encapsulated in the axiom “Ezi Aha ka Ego”. Just ask around and you will be convinced

7. Humble and Respectful – Sir Stanley Amuchie’s humility resonates. Political power will certainly not get into his head to desecrate traditional and religious institutions and offices.

8. God Fearing and Lover of God – Imo State is a Christian State. Sir Stanley Amuchie’s love for God knows no denomination in Christendom. Loved by Anglicans, Catholics, and Pentecostals.

9. Willingness To Serve / Sacrifice-- It is out of Sir Amuchie willingness to serve his state that he is sacrificing his juicy job at Zenith bank to go through the waters of political uncertainties

10. Youthful and Active -- Especially now that the mantra is Youth Take Over, the energy, ability and age are on the side of Sir Stanley Amuchie who has just turned 44 years of age to go into the general election. With his age, campaigns become very easy to convince the youths which make up of almost 70% of Imo INEC registered voters.

Considering some of these point as marshalled out, it is pertinent to channel the direction of delegates votes to Sir Stanley Chiedozim Amuchie into the APGA party primary for easy win of the general election.

God Bless Nigeria
God Bless Imo State
God Bless APGA

*GO, GIFT OKECHIMAGHALAM, AND SIN NO MORE!*
*©️ Chinedu Agu*

Scarcely a fortnight ago, we read a piece titled "2019: Why Ndimo Must Reject Zenith Bank and Any Person From It," authored by Gift Okechimaghalam. In that inelegant piece, the Author laboured to spew phlegm on the glowing reputation of one of Imo State's finest - Sir Stanley Amuchie.

Our first reaction was that of a searing consternation. But after reading it twice and thrice, we resolved to discountenance it as those Beer Parlour musings of a man who had beguiled his long hours into moistening his tongue in gin. If otherwise, then the author may be writing for both fun and fund.

About 48hours ago, we again read another piece scripted in an inelegant prose, titled "Forgive Me, Today I Know More And Better." And quickly this caption calls to mind a verse in the Hymn, Amazing Grace - "I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see."

And so with glee, we want to welcome Gift Okechimaghalam to light and commend him for banishing the darkness that thickly swirled around his former realm. Welcome, Gift to the realm of truth and knowledge and light.

Thank you for disrobing the cloak of psychophancy and cladding yourself with the majestic garb of probity and objectivity.

Our attention has been drawn to Gift Okechimaghalam's recant and the mixed reactions that have trailed it on social media. So in the midst of the cacophony of voices saying "Gift was caught in the very act of defamation," and then Gift, weighed down and laden with guilt, casting a pitiful, remorseful gaze at us, we have decided to bend over, do a long unintelligible scribble on the ground, raise our head, look straight into Gift's teary eyes and say: Go and sin no more!

Gift Okechimaghalam's piece has refused to ruffle our feathers as Sir Stanley Amuchie's unassailable integrity, built and vigilantly maintained over the years, has not been and can not be blighted by any faltering pen.

He is a first class brain; a colossus that towers above his contemporaries; an astute Banker and Administrator who stands alone at the very pinnacle of his profession; a strong proponent of human capital development and empowerment.

Over the years, Sir Stanley Amuchie has displayed a genuine, consistent inclination for philanthropy; a gesture sparked by his peculiar circumstances as a growing child in the midst of lack. He floated, over ten years ago, an NGO called Goodlight Foundation.

In an era where many individuals have flattered to deceive under the auspices of a Foundation, Stanley Amuchie has touched lives through Goodlight Foundation and has executed numerous community projects through same.

He has got the Midas' touch; evidently charismatic; disarmingly humble, unremittingly generous and stunningly sees in men, things they themselves have long lost. Like a fallen ember, he comes and ignites it and gives it breadth until it returns a blazing flame. This is exactly his mission in our State which can better be described as a fallen ember!

In the midst of this decay in this State, what we need is a seasoned Administrator in Douglas House come 2019.

In the midst of this darkness in Imo State, we need a dawn to end this long night of hunger, penury and rottenness.

We have no doubt that our search for that light in Imo State has come to an end, for that light has come in Sir Stanley Amuchie.

Meanwhile, Gift Okechimaghalam, go and sin no more!
