On the occasion of the International Day of Peace 2025, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Michael Abattam was ceremoniously inducted into the Rotary Club of Ogwa by Rtn. Anoruo, during a courtesy visit that brought together the Rotary Club of Ogwa alongside the Rotaract Clubs of Amakohia Akwakuma (CB) and New Owerri (CB).
The dialogue during the visit centered on Rotary’s mission of peacebuilding and conflict prevention, exploring avenues through which Rotary, in partnership with the Imo State Command of the Nigerian Police Force, can foster harmony, stability, and stronger community relations across the state.
ACP Michael Abattam, in his goodwill remarks, commended Rotary’s initiatives as a powerful instrument for cultivating a more peaceful and inclusive society. He recalled with fondness his exposure to Rotary’s youth arms—**Interact and Rotaract—**during his university days, affirming that these platforms are pivotal in shaping the values of young people toward conflict prevention and societal development. He further emphasized the need for proper mentorship of Interactors and Rotaractors, recognizing them as critical stakeholders in peacebuilding.
In a symbolic highlight of the event, Rtn. Anoruo, President of the Rotary Club of Ogwa, formally inducted ACP Abattam as a member of the Club. The Assistant Commissioner, in his acceptance, pledged to uphold Rotary’s guiding principles encapsulated in the Four-Way Test, while assuring the commitment of the Imo State Police Command to collaborate with Rotary in advancing peace and preventing conflict in the state.
