Compliance to waste management protocols is as important as knowing about waste management.

It is okay to know about it but we must now move from that point to the next level which is compliance. That is making sure we take responsibility by complying to set guideline to waste management as individuals and as a group.

Just like a tree can't make a forest. Alone we can't but Together, we can.

California has launched an innovative project to fight drought and generate clean energy by covering canals with solar panels. According to the Turlock Irrigation District, the pilot program known as Project Nexus began in the Central Valley and is the first of its kind in the United States. The idea is simple but powerful. By shading canals with solar panels, the state can reduce water evaporation while producing renewable electricity at the same time.

According to Canary Media, the $20 million state-funded project went online in 2025 and now produces 1.6 megawatts of electricity, enough to power hundreds of homes. The panels not only generate clean energy but also help keep the water cooler and reduce algae growth. Researchers at the University of California have noted that this approach could save billions of gallons of water annually, which is critical in a state that has faced repeated droughts.

FACT 4
The last decade (2015-2024) wasn't just warm; it was the HOTTEST on record globally. We're living through climate history right now, witnessing unprecedented temperature rises. This isn't a future problem; it's a present reality.

In this season of celebration and love, let's remember the earth is worth loving too.

FACT 3:
Our oceans are silently absorbing over 90% of the excess heat from greenhouse gas emissions. While this spares our air, it's pushing marine ecosystems to their limits. The ocean needs our help! 🌊

10 Climate & Environment Facts we need to know

FACT 1: The science is clear. Human activity, primarily the burning of fossil fuels, is the overwhelming cause of our planet's rapid warming. This means we have the power to be the solution, too! 💪

Just wow

Every year, powerful winds lift huge clouds of dust from the Sahara Desert into the sky. Some of this dust, full of minerals and about 22,000 tons of phosphorus, travels across the Atlantic Ocean and falls on the Amazon rainforest.

It works like natural fertilizer, helping replace nutrients lost in heavy rain. Without this dust, much of the Amazon would struggle to stay healthy. This amazing journey shows how deeply Earth’s systems are connected.

In the face of floods, hurricanes, erosions, forest fires, droughts etc, the most effective response to climate change is COLLABORATION. We must shift our focus from negotiation-collaboration to implementation-collaboration.

As world leaders in Brazil are wrapping up things in the 30th annual conference of the parties (COP 30), I strongly wish the THEME on which the conference was anchored which is the concept of mutirāo- an enduring spirit of collective, community driven effort is well amplified.

SDGs
Goal 13: Climate Action
Goal 17: Partnership for the goals.
