TRIBUTE TO COLONEL PETER KOLAWOLE OBASA (RTD)
(1938 – 2026)

The Management, Staff, and Corps Members of NYSC South-West Area Office I mourn the passing of Colonel Peter Kolawole Obasa (SK Obasa), former Director-General of the NYSC (September 1979 – January 1984), who passed away on September 28, 2026, at the age of 88.

As the Scheme’s 3rd Chief Executive, Colonel Obasa was a pioneer administrator whose leadership laid the foundational administrative framework that sustains the NYSC today. His legacy of discipline, integrity, and patriotic service remains an enduring blueprint for nation-building.

As our flag flies at half-mast, we join the Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, and the entire NYSC family in extending our deepest condolences to the Obasa family in Ilorin, Kwara State.

May his gallant soul rest in perfect peace.
