HANDING OVER SPEECH BY ABDULWAHAB TOYEEB ADEGBOLA; THE PRESIDENT OF NEMA CDS FROM 19TH JUNE TO 30TH OCTOBER 2024
All praise and adoration is due to Almighty God, by whose grace and mercy I have had the privilege of serving as your President. It is with immense gratitude and a sense of fulfillment that I stand before you today to formally hand over the leadership of this great CDS group. My tenure as President, which began on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, has been a journey filled with learning, challenges, and accomplishments, and I am honored to present an account of our stewardship over the past four months.
Over the past 134 days, our administration focused on creating an environment of efficiency, collaboration, and community engagement. Together, we achieved remarkable milestones that have laid the foundation for a brighter future for Nema CDS. Allow me to highlight some of our key accomplishments:
Purchase of Padlock: Early in our administration, we secured the locker containing vital documents and banners by purchasing a padlock to ensure the safety of members' files.
Compilation of NEMA CDS Handbook: We successfully compiled a comprehensive NEMA CDS Handbook to serve as a resource for both new and existing members. The handbook includes detailed information about NYSC, NEMA, and the purpose and objectives of our CDS, as well as insights into the challenges we face and how we can overcome them.
Printing of NEMA Biometric Tags: In an effort to improve our biometric process, we initiated and printed NEMA biometric number tags. This innovation has not only streamlined the process but has also brought order and efficiency to our operations.
Purchase of NEMA Jackets: We procured five safety jackets to identify our members during rallies and sensitization activities. We also have plans to purchase more jackets and customize them for future use, a project we aim to complete before the end of the administration.
Participation in Football Competition: We actively participated in the inter-CDS football competition, where we ensured that our Nema team was fully supported. Though we didn't progress beyond the quarter-final stage, we provided resources for training, welfare for the players, and certificates of appreciation for their efforts.
Purchase of Biometric Scanner: Alongside other CDS groups, we contributed towards the purchase of a new biometric scanner, ensuring a smoother biometric process for all.
Purchase of Public Address System: In our quest to improve communication, especially during public sensitization programs, we acquired a public address system. This has enhanced both our internal meetings and external outreach efforts, ensuring our messages are heard clearly and effectively.
Hosted a POP Party for Batch B2: We organized a memorable Passing Out Parade (POP) party for Batch B stream 2 members. The event was complete with tents, chairs, music, refreshments, games, and the presentation of certificates to celebrate their contributions to Nema CDS.
Purchase of Gaming Equipment : For the POP party and future social events, we acquired ludo and card games to add an element of entertainment and relaxation during our gatherings.
Payment for Renovation of the CDS Spot: Together with other CDS groups, we contributed to the renovation of our CDS spot, ensuring a comfortable and functional space for our activities.
Welcoming of New Batches: We formally welcomed and initiated Batch A2 and Batch B1 and Batch B2 members into the group, providing refreshments to celebrate their inclusion and integrating them into our growing family.
Purchase of Stationeries and Fixing of Attendance Register: To ensure proper documentation, we purchased notebooks for recording the details of new members and repaired the attendance register to keep accurate records of attendance.
Construction of 10 Benches: As part of our infrastructure improvements, we successfully constructed 10 benches for the CDS, providing a lasting asset for our meetings and activities and also we procured chains and padlock to keep it save.
Hosted NEMA Owambe Extravaganza: As a celebration of our shared efforts and achievements, we successfully hosted the NEMA Owambe Extravaganza, which brought our members together in a festive atmosphere. This event was not only a time of fun but also a moment to strengthen the bonds of unity and camaraderie among us.
Optimization, Revamp and Update of Our Media Handles: As part of our commitment to connecting, informing, and engaging with our community, we’ve taken important steps to optimize and revamp our social media presence. This ensures that NEMA CDS has active and up-to-date channels across all major platforms, enabling us to better share updates, showcase activities, and enhance communication with members and the public alike.
Borehole Project: Finally, we have been making strides towards the completion of our borehole project. This project has required significant planning, including a trip to Ede to solicit for support, a visit to the chairman OSBC, We are hopeful that a major milestone will be reached by the next administration.
In conclusion, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Nema CDS executive team and all members for their unwavering support and dedication. Our collective effort has made this journey a fulfilling one, and I am proud of all we have achieved together.
To the incoming administration, I have full confidence that you will build on these achievements and take Nema CDS to even greater heights. I encourage you to lead with integrity, innovation, and a spirit of service. I know that with your leadership, the future of Nema CDS will be in safe hands and I want to urge and implore my ever supportive member to please support the incoming administration more than you've supported us.
Thank you once again for the privilege to serve, and may we continue to grow and thrive as a united group committed to serving our community.
Together we can make NEMA CDS GREAT,
God bless NEMA CDS,
God Bless NYSC,
