CHILDREN ARE NOT CONTENT. VULNERABILITY IS NOT A BUSINESS.
This is a public appeal to
Please desist from involving children and emotionally vulnerable young people in online narratives for clicks, relevance, or monetization.
Over the years, Nigerians have repeatedly raised concerns about a pattern where minors or vulnerable individuals become central to online commentary, speculation, and prolonged public scrutiny. Whether intentional or not, the impact on young minds and mental health is real and damaging.
Children cannot consent to internet permanence.
Teenagers cannot defend themselves against viral narratives.
Vulnerable young people should never be turned into content arcs.
From past controversies to the most recent situation involving Aanu, one truth remains: exposure without protection can cause lifelong harm. The internet never forgets but children grow, heal, and deserve privacy.
This is not about silencing anyone.
It is about ethical boundaries.
It is about duty of care.
It is about choosing humanity over virality.
If your platform is powerful, then your responsibility is greater.
If your voice is loud, then your restraint must be louder.
Let children be children.
Let vulnerable people heal offline.
Stop turning real lives into online spectacles.
Nigeria must do better.
Content creators must do better.
Adults must protect children always.
