A PLEA FOR THEIR FUTURE

A few days ago, I found myself kneeling before a father, pleading with him to allow two of his daughters to enroll at the Bridge Academy of Knowledge and Skills (BAKS).

He had vowed never to send any of his remaining daughters to school again. His decision was born out of deep disappointment, two of his older daughters had gotten pregnant before completing secondary school. When he refused to release one of them to the man responsible, he was arrested and thrown behind bars.

Do you blame him?
To him, schooling only brought pain and shame. Yet, should the failure or misguidance of a few deny others the chance for a better life?

After much persuasion, he finally agreed to release the two girls to me for enrollment at the Bridge Academy, but made it clear that he would not be financially responsible for their education.

Sadly, his story is not unique. Many parents in this community share the same frustration. Their children, who once attended schools in faraway towns (because there is no secondary school here), often return home with unwanted pregnancies or with strange habits that are contrary to acceptable morals or values. These are simply the results of a lack of supervision and proper guidance. Over time, these experiences have eroded the trust of parents in formal secondary education.

This is exactly why Bridge Academy of Knowledge and Skills (BAKS) was born, to bring education back home, closer to families, blending learning with vocational training and moral guidance. Here, students can attend classes in the afternoon while learning useful trades or vocations during the day, keeping them purposefully engaged, supervised, and inspired.

But here is the challenge:
Many of these children desperately want to learn, but their parents cannot or will not fund their education.

That is where you can make a difference.

🌾 Sponsor a Child — give one or two students the chance to return to school.

📍 Bridge Academy of Knowledge and Skills (BAKS), Faith Mission Outreach, Ofeegun Community

A few days ago, I visited all the churches within Ofeegun, the community where I serve, after an earlier meeting with some members of the Islamic faith. The purpose of my visit was to create awareness for one of my Mission’s projects: the Bridge Academy of Knowledge and Skills (BAKS).

In one of the churches, I was pleasantly surprised when a woman asked a series of intelligent questions I honestly didn’t expect anyone in the community to raise. She wanted to know how the school differs from a technical college and how it would be possible to cover the entire curriculum within three and a half years. Wow! That level of curiosity and reasoning caught my attention.

She went on to share her experience with a man who prefers enrolling his children in a two- or three-year informal apprenticeship program. To him, secondary education is a waste of time because, after completing it, a child still may not be able to fend for himself, unlike those who have learned vocational skills. She wanted to know, sincerely, how our project could make a difference in that situation.

Of course, she received clear answers to all her questions and was satisfied. However, a key takeaway for me from that encounter was the importance of preparation. I imagined how that moment might have turned out if I hadn’t prepared adequately before stepping out, if I hadn’t taken time to review the vision thoroughly and subject it to several layers of scrutiny: identifying its strengths and how they work, its weaknesses and how to address them, the opportunities available and how to harness them, and the potential threats with measures to mitigate them.

Truly, the place of proper preparation cannot be overemphasized. Thanks to it, I had ready answers to critical questions about the project. That encounter renewed my confidence that the Bridge Academy of Knowledge and Skills (BAKS) will not only succeed but will make a profound educational and transformational impact in rural and underserved communities like Ofeegun, and, by extension, across the world.

TRAPPED IN A CYCLE OF LOYALTY

Many people unknowingly hinder their own growth because of excessive loyalty to a single spiritual figure or mentor. While honor and respect are biblical virtues, God never designed that one person should carry all the answers to your life’s journey. Even the greatest teachers see in part and know in part (1 Corinthians 13:9).

Your life is multi-dimensional; spiritual, personal, educational, financial, relational, and even health-wise. If you anchor all of your growth to one voice alone, you may end up strong in one area but weak and struggling in others.

The truth is, God uses people differently. One person may guide you spiritually, another may stretch you intellectually, another may open financial wisdom to you, and yet another may help you grow in character and relationships. That’s why it takes humility and discernment to learn from different sources while keeping your eyes on Christ as the ultimate model.

Be wise. Honor those God places in your life, but don’t become trapped in a cycle where loyalty blinds you from learning, exploring, and growing in the other areas of your destiny. Your good life requires balance, and no single person holds the full blueprint of your future.

GROW UP TO A GOOD LIFE

Everyone desires a good life, it is a universal need. You do too. And that is probably why you invest so much in spiritual activities or schooling.

But the good life was never designed to be realized by focusing on only one area of growth. It cannot be achieved by growing spiritually alone or educationally alone.

True fulfillment comes when we grow in a balanced way — combining:
* Spiritual growth (faith and alignment with God)
* Personal growth (purpose, potential, and character)
* Educational growth (knowledge and skills)
* Financial growth (stability and stewardship)
* Health growth (body and wellness)
* Relationship growth (love, family, and community)

When these areas work together, life becomes whole, meaningful, and impactful.

Take a moment today to check where you need balance, and begin to grow in all six areas. That’s how the good life is truly lived.

THE DEMANDS OF SUCCESS

There has never been a theory or law that says schooling or education alone is the key to success in life. If that were true, every graduate would automatically be fulfilled and prosperous.

The truth is, success is never built on just one factor, it is the outcome of a combination of growth in several areas: your spiritual life, personal development (purpose, potential, and character), financial wisdom, health, relationships, and yes, education too.

Schooling equips your mind, but without discipline, values, vision, and the right networks, education alone cannot take you far. Success is holistic, it demands balance.

NOT ON YOUR TERMS

“Life works best when lived according to the Creator’s design. Your duty is not to redefine, but to decipher and align.”

You cannot define life in your own terms and expect to get the best (love, peace, joy, fulfillment) out of it. Why? Because you are not the Creator. Life was not an accident, it was designed with intention and purpose by the Creator Himself.

Your duty is clear: to decipher the Creator’s intention for your life and align with it. That is where true peace, love, and joy flow from.

Note this well: You have a DUTY. And that duty is to DECIPHER and ALIGN.

If you miss the design, you miss the essence. But if you align, life unfolds in fullness.

YOUR DESTINY DESERVES BETTER: CHANGE!

“Don’t stay stuck where you are not growing. Change your strategy, and if need be, change your environment, but always remain consistent and impactful.”

Dissatisfaction is not a curse; it is a signal. If you are not satisfied with the results you are getting, don’t resign to fate, change your strategy. Strategies are man-made; they can be adjusted.

But if after a full circle of seasons your new strategy still yields no results, then it is time to change your environment. Not every soil can grow every seed.

Yet in changing, two things are required of you:
1. Leave traces behind — mark your presence with value wherever you pass and let there be at least a person who can represent you well, incase opportunity comes after you've left.
2. Be consistent — success is built by persistence, not random efforts.

Don’t be comfortable where there is no fruit.🍇Your destiny deserves better.

“EVERY STEP COUNTS” EDITION
1. What motivated Jadav Payeng to start planting trees, and what was the long-term outcome of his consistent effort?

2. Complete the sentence in your own words:
“Consistency is more powerful than ______.”
Then, explain why this is true based on your own experience or something you’ve observed.

3. True or False: Small steps don’t really make a difference unless you see immediate results. Explain your answer using Jadav’s story or the example of the young woman writing a book.

4. Reflection Challenge: What small, consistent action are you currently taking (or can begin today) that aligns with your long-term goal? How will you stay motivated even when the results aren’t instant?

5. Imagine you had just 10 minutes a day to work on a dream project. What would you do in those 10 minutes? After 6 months, what impact could those small efforts have if done daily?
