On 11th December 2025, the International Day of the Girl Child empowerment program in Udung Uko Local Government Area equipped young girls with essential digital, leadership, and entrepreneurial skills.
Organized by Excelling Youth Initiative with support from Hon. Chief (Mrs), Chairman of the International Day of the Girl Child Celebration Udung Uko 2025, and in partnership with the Global Shapers Community, Uyo Hub, and technical support from Edet Amana Foundation, the event took place at Community Secondary School, Udung Uko.
Represented by Hon. Blessing Victor Eyite, the Honorable Member delivered the keynote address, inspiring students to focus on education, embrace leadership opportunities, and develop skills for the future.
In collaboration with trainers from the Global Shapers Community, Uyo Hub, Excelling Youth Initiative executed a hands-on curriculum that introduced participants to:
1. Leadership fundamentals for self and team development
2. Graphic design with smartphone
3. AI tools for studies, research, and content creation
4. Basic business and entrepreneurial thinking
Students created their first digital designs and showcased their talents through poetry, cultural displays, carols, and drama, demonstrating creativity alongside technical skills.
As the first program of its kind in Udung Uko, this initiative lays the foundation for expanding similar programs across Oron and Udung Uko, equipping more young girls with practical skills for the 21st century.
We sincerely thank Hon. Chief (Mrs) Kenim Victor Onofiok, for her unwavering support and exemplary leadership, which has been instrumental in championing initiatives that empower young girls and youth across Oron and Udung Uko, providing them with opportunities to develop the skills, confidence, and vision needed for a successful future.
We also acknowledge the Uyo Global Shapers Community Hub for their expert facilitation, and EDAF ICT Hub for their vital technical contribution.
