*Imo State Executive Council Approves Reconstruction of Key Roads to Boost Connectivity and Economic Growth*

In a fresh move to enhance infrastructure and drive socio-economic development across the state, the Imo State Executive Council has approved the reconstruction and rehabilitation of several critical road networks.
The decisions, announced during yesterday's council meeting come at a time when Imo State is prioritizing sustainable infrastructure upgrades.
Among the flagship projects is the *Construction of Umuezeala - Umuode - Ekeuodu - Umukabia Road in Ehime Mbano LGA (3.6 km)*. This vital artery will undergo full construction to link rural communities, easing transportation of agricultural produce and fostering local commerce in one of Imo's agrarian hubs.
Complementing this is the *Rehabilitation/Construction of Zoo Old Nekede Road - Claretian University Road, Nekede Owerri (4 km)*, a key urban corridor in the state capital. The project aims to modernize this busy stretch, benefiting students, commuters, and institutions like Claretian University while alleviating chronic traffic bottlenecks in the densely populated Nekede area.
Further extending the state's road network, the council endorsed the **Construction of Human Race Ezeakiri – Naze No. 6 Aba Road Owerri**, a strategic link that will streamline connectivity between Owerri and suburbs.
The *Construction of Eziachi - Umuzike – Umudioka - Amucha with Spur at Nkwerre LGA, Imo State (5 km)* has been fast-tracked. This multi-segment road, complete with a strategic spur, will connect several farming villages, promoting agricultural evacuation and reducing isolation of residents in the area.
Another approved road is the ambitious *Construction/Rehabilitation of Umuaka - Umundugba - Isunjaba - Eziama Obire - Mgbaboano Road*, which traverses multiple communities.
By rehabilitating and expanding these routes, the projects will bridge gaps in the existing networks.
Governor Hope Uzodimma, who chaired the council session, described the approvals as "a testament to our commitment to transforming Imo into an economic powerhouse through people-centered infrastructure." Officials estimate the combined projects will create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs, inject vital funds into local economies, and improve road safety with modern drainage, signage, and pavement standards.
