I am pleased to announce the commencement of another medical outreach programme across Yenagoa-Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency, as part of my continued efforts to improve access to quality healthcare for my constituents.
The medical outreach, which I have previously undertaken, will commence on 1st October, my birthday, and run through 9th October 2026, covering various communities across the two Local Government Areas that make up my federal constituency.
Through this intervention, I seek to alleviate some of the health challenges confronting our people by providing free medical services and treatments in key areas, including general medical consultations, distribution of drugs, and surgical procedures.
The surgical interventions will include myomectomy for fibroids, herniorrhaphy, appendicectomy, hydrocelectomy and lump excision for both children and adults.
The programme will also provide comprehensive eye care services, including eye screening, distribution of prescription glasses, and surgeries for conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, chalazion and pterygium.
In addition, beneficiaries will have access to dental services, including scaling and polishing, tooth filling, tooth extraction and other necessary dental interventions.
The outreach will take place at the following healthcare facilities:
* 1st–2nd October: Diete-Ikoki Memorial Hospital, Opolo
* 3rd October: Cottage Hospital, Ikarama-Okordia
* 5th–6th October: Kaiama Referral Hospital
* 7th October: Cottage Hospital, Okoloba
* 8th–9th October: Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri
I therefore encourage all constituents and the general public who are experiencing any of the health conditions covered by this programme to take advantage of this opportunity and visit the designated medical centres on the scheduled dates.
I remain committed to supporting the wellbeing of our people and ensuring that access to essential healthcare is not beyond the reach of those who need it.
