Before we kick off our program, I've been compelled to address a pressing issue

I want to address a pressing concern regarding the recent approval of age grade groups by our revered king, HRM Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe (MNI), and the Ogbo so Achi Ani Onicha. While this initiative aims to promote our rich heritage and showcase our vibrant culture, I've noticed that some of you have misinterpreted its purpose.
Please understand that the age grade groups are not merely an excuse for socializing, drinking, or lavishing time. Rather, they serve as a unique opportunity to celebrate our traditions and cultural identity, particularly during the yuletide period.
As youths, it's essential to prioritize your pursuit of survival, personal growth, and development. Focus on securing employment, building meaningful relationships, and exploring opportunities for self-improvement. These aspects are crucial for your future success and well-being.
While the age grade groups are a special aspect of our culture, they shouldn't be the primary focus of your attention. I urge you to strike a balance between participating in these groups and working towards your individual goals.
Let's channel our energy into building a brighter future for ourselves and our community. Our heritage and culture are essential parts of who we are, but they shouldn't distract us from making progress in our lives.
