Dear young Christians creatives serving in church in any capacity, Calvary greetings to you all in the matchless name of Jesus. Service in church could be both your life’s best and worst decisions if not properly structured. Pay attention in to the context because some of you don’t like naked truths.

1. The pastor of the church you serve in has both the kingdom agenda and his personal goals as a human being which is not wrong by the way. Besides running the church, he indulges in other business endeavours like schools, hotels, real estates, banks, etc. You are either serving the purpose of the former or the latter or the two.

2. In service you are used. Yes my love you are! If you are not useful to the missions and the dreams of the pastor I doubt you will be recruited in the first place. In whatever capacity you see yourself you are being used which to an extent would favour you. While some come in as expert others grow as rookies.

3. Don’t become USELESS to yourself trying to be USEFUL to the visions for which you were recruited for. While you serve the purpose of the visions make plans to make your personal life better. Improve yourself greatly, get quality education, get skills in demand, bag degrees and have your life planned out while you serve. You will surely need it. Even if it involves you travelling to a new town to get upgraded go ahead, the work will not suffer. Even the pastor and his family improves themselves by acquiring more skills and degrees to keep their personal dreams alive.

4. The pastor will NEVER give you the same training he gives his children no matter how much he claims he loves you. Yes my love I said so! While you are being used to serve the vision, the pastor, who is posterity minded, send his kids abroad to go and secure quality trainings, education, skills, degrees and working experiences that will make them better choices over you when the time comes. You are trained to survive or follow while they are trained to innovate or lead. That’s why you are given money, cars, houses and other material things for your loyalty while their kids get top global scholarships, skills in demand that makes them full and active members of the society even beyond the walls of the church.

5. Nobody will advice you to be USEFUL to yourself while you are still in USE for the vision you were recruited for. It is something you have to figure out by yourself and work towards. Anyone you see who remains useful to himself after his years of service in a church did his due diligence. That your due diligence is what you will fall back to when the die is cast.

6. In service in church you will never remain the desired forever. A time will come when the die is cast and there will be need for a change and if you have not yet figured out how to be USEFUL to yourself you will remain a liability to yourself and the church. To some you will become a mockery spectacle and will be blamed for not taking your chances.

7. There is always the other side of life after your years of service in church. That side is what they don’t usually tell you. Transition is always a constant process in humanity. You can be here at this moment and life will shift you to another spot in a matter of seconds. What will sustain you during this period is what you did prior to the transition.

8. Always have a plan! Always be strategic!! So you don’t have to blame anyone for your woes when they decide to move on from you or vice versa.

Service in church doesn’t end technically so I wrote this in a context. If you miss the context you miss the piece and that’s not my problem.

We are committed to Encouraging and Supporting you to Keep Moving Ahead no matter the challenges.

REFLECTION FOR TODAY

A few months ago a friend confessed to me: “I feel like I messed up. Everyone my age is settled or climbing fast and I’m so behind.” She’d watched classmates launch businesses, get promotions and move cities while she took a longer route through repeated side-jobs, night classes and caring for a sick relative.

I told her something simple: You’re not late, you’re perfectly aligned. Her path had detours because it needed lessons, strength and timing. Those detours taught her resilience, gave her real-world skills and placed her in the exact moment she needed to meet the right opportunity. Comparing chapter two of your life to chapter twenty of someone else’s will only steal your peace.

If you’ve ever felt the sting of comparison at work, in relationships, or watching other people’s highlight reels, please pause. Your timing isn’t wrong; it’s yours.

What looks like delay might actually be preparation. What looks like a setback may be the quiet arranging of your next breakthrough.

Stop measuring your progress with someone else’s ruler. Your journey has its own pace, purpose and people. Trust the process, do the work, and keep showing up.

If this resonates with you, tag a friend who needs to hear it and share it too. Let’s help more people stop comparing themselves with others and instead, start aligning with their natural timing.

And if your growth journey includes finally writing that book, launching your ebook, structuring your knowledge into an online course, or getting your work on Selar or Amazon, I’m right here to help you bring it to life with expert editing, formatting, publishing, and strategic guidance. At Thinkers Publishers Limited, your voice matters. And your story deserves to be told, professionally and powerfully.

Until then, let's keep encouraging and supporting each other to be the best we can be

So this popular social media anthem 'Beautiful Day' sung by Akon, has a cool story behind it?

Ha! I'm ashamed to say that I'm just finding out.

Let's begin from the original singer, Jamaican gospel artist, Jermaine Edwards.

He released 'Beautiful Day' in 2014.
Some heard it, but the majority didn't.

*****
In 2017, a 10-year-old school boy, Rushawn, was walking around and casually singing to himself during lunch break.

A teacher heard him and asked him to show the school staff what he's got.

Rushawn burst into singing 'Beautiful Day', his singing was raw and heartfelt.

The teacher captured it and posted the clip.

*****
In 2023, a South Africa producer and DJ, 'The Kiffness' stumbled on it.
He did a live video remix on his platform, with the clip of Rushawn singing in his uniform. It ranked no 6 on Spotify Global Viral 50 chart.
Electronic group Trinix, others remixed it too.

That's how the world fell in love with the innocence and sincerity in the kid's voice.

*****
Prinz, Rushawn, Jermaine teamed up and released the same song the same year (2023), it currently has 20m views on YouTube.

*****
In 2024, Akon hopped on the moving train.
He released his own version of Beautiful Day, retaining Rushawn's vocals as hook.
The song's reception was crazy and still is.

I think his version outtrended others, because that's what you hear on everyone's status.

*****
The song transformed Rushawn's life beyond his wildest imagination.
He's now 18 and a professional artist.

From being an underprivileged school kid with plenty academic setbacks, to bagging a music deal with Sony Records in the UK.

Meanwhile, gospel artist Jermaine who first sowed the seed wasn't left out of the deal, he and Rushawn got all the masters of the song. I can only imagine how juicy their royalties are.

*****
Rushawn’s alma mater also benefits from the partnership with Sony, including infrastructural development.

*****
The story illustrates a ripple effect of success.
It took Beautiful Day 8 years after its release to reach its full global impact, now the song has become an anthem of gratitude.

God's time is indeed the best. 🙏
