OMATU CHAIRMAN INAUGURATES NEW ZONAL MARKET LEADERS

During a brief exciting ceremony held on Friday 8th July 2022 at the White House, Main Market; the caretaker chairman of Onitsha Main Market Traders Union (OMATU) Chief Ikechukwu Innocent Ezeoha inuaugrated the new caretaker zonal executives of the market.

Chief Ezeoha thanked the Governor of Anambra state and the Hon Commisioner for Commerce and Industry for appointing capable leaders that will pilot the affairs of the three zones in the market.

Chief Ezeoha extolled the qualities of the new executives of Zone 1, 2 and 3 and advised them to see their appointment by the government as a special privilege given to them to serve the traders entrusted under their care. He further advised them to carry out their duties judiciously and focus on creating legacies that will outlive them. According to Ezeoha “this is no longer business as usual…., you are now the ambassadors of your respective zones and much is expected from you”.

The ceremony witnessed the presentation of appointment letters by the OMATU chairman to the three caretaker zonal chairmen.

In their brief remarks after receiving their appointment letters, the Chairmen of Zone 1, 2 and 3 expressed their sincere gratitude to the government of Anambra state for finding them worthy to serve. They also thanked the Chairman and Executives of OMATU for their fatherly role in directing the affairs of the market.
They promised repay the faith in entrusted in them by working together with the market executives for the progress of main market.

It is our pleasure to announce to you that Onitsha Main Market Traders Union (OMMATU) is now officially online and properly branded!

As part of the Caretaker committee's plans to reform the union, we commissioned a logo project, that still retains old elements of the union, but with proper and easily recognizable branding. At the same time, we have officially set up social media channels through which we can easily disseminate information to our members and the general public.
