Looking back on the eye testing and glasses distribution carried out in Abuja

Residents benefited from comprehensive vision screening, eye examinations, and essential eye health support services aimed at detecting and addressing preventable sight challenges early.

Beyond Abuja, this same life-changing initiative was also implemented in Ondo and Oyo States, expanding access to quality eye care and restoring hope across communities.

Across all three states, the programme reached over 1,000 beneficiaries in total reflecting the growing impact of this intervention.

This initiative continues to reflect the commitment of the Rolan Foundation to improving healthcare access and ensuring that no one is left behind when it comes to vision and overall wellbeing.

From Abuja to Ondo to Oyo, the mission remains clear restoring sight, strengthening lives, and serving communities one outreach at a time.

For years, residents of Epe Community faced challenges accessing clean and reliable water, affecting daily life and the wellbeing of families within the community.

With the installation of solar panels to the already completed borehole construction in Epe Community, renewed hope and sustainable access to clean water are becoming a reality for the community.

Through the support of the Australian Embassy Direct Aid Program (DAP), in collaboration with the Rolan Foundation, this initiative is helping to provide a more reliable water supply while promoting healthier living conditions for residents.

This project represents more than just access to water it is a step toward improved health, dignity, and sustainable community development.

At Bishop Vinning Anglican Memorial Primary School, Epe, Ondo State, a major milestone has been achieved with the successful completion of the solar power installation for the classroom under the Direct Aid Program (DAP), supported by the Australian Embassy in collaboration with the Rolan Foundation.

This installation now provides a reliable and sustainable source of electricity for the ICT classroom, enhancing learning conditions and ensuring smoother academic activities for pupils.

This sets the school on a stronger path toward improved, technology-enabled learning in a more conducive environment for both students and teachers.

Looking back on the impact made during the second phase of the Rolan Foundation’s Abuja Vision Support Programme.

At the Sa’Peyi Palace in Garki, the Chief of Garki welcomed the Rolan Foundation and also participated as a beneficiary alongside members of his palace staff.

A powerful moment that highlights the importance of accessible eye care for everyone, as the Chief received his eye check-up from the President of the Nigerian Optometric Association, Abuja chapter

Moments like this remind us that when care is brought closer to the people, it not only restores sight but also dignity, confidence, and quality of life.

At Bishop Vining Anglican Memorial Primary School, Epe, Ondo State, one of the major challenges faced in the school was the poor state of the classroom facilities, which greatly hindered students from learning effectively. The classrooms were in terrible condition, making teaching and learning difficult and affecting the overall academic experience of the pupils.

For many of the students, this meant struggling to concentrate in an environment that was not conducive for learning, where basic comfort and proper infrastructure were lacking. However, change is now taking place.

Through the support of the Australian Embassy Direct Aid Program (DAP), in collaboration with the Rolan Foundation, meaningful intervention is underway. Renovation works on the classrooms are currently ongoing to create safer, more comfortable, and more conducive learning spaces for both students and teachers.

This intervention is driven by a simple belief: every child deserves to learn in a conducive environment that supports and enhances learning. It is about restoring dignity to education and ensuring that no child is left behind because of poor learning conditions.

During an advocacy visit to Bamikemo, Ondo State, the Rolan Foundation team engaged with the Queen and members of the community in an open conversation aimed at understanding their daily realities and long-standing challenges.

What we encountered reflects the deep infrastructural gaps that continue to affect many rural communities across Nigeria.

Since 2010, Bamikemo has lived without electricity, a situation that has quietly but significantly shaped every aspect of life in the community. From household activities to access to information and basic services, the absence of power continues to limit opportunities and development.
Access to clean and safe water remains another major challenge. Residents often have to travel long distances outside the community to fetch water, especially when the local well dries up frequently.

This not only consumes time and energy but also raises concerns around water safety and availability.
The primary health centre in the community is also under severe pressure.

Due to the lack of electricity, essential medical equipment cannot be fully utilized, limiting the quality of care that can be provided.

These realities highlight the broader struggles faced by numerous underserved communities across Nigeria, where access to basic infrastructure such as electricity, clean water, and functional healthcare facilities remains a daily challenge.

In Ondo East Local Government, one of the major challenges faced at the healthcare facility has been the constant struggle with unstable electricity affecting service delivery and making it difficult to provide timely care, especially during emergencies.

With the ongoing installation of a solar power system at the Comprehensive Health Center, Bolorunduro, things are beginning to change. This project is helping to reduce the hardship caused by power outages, improve efficiency, and ensure that healthcare services can run more smoothly and reliably for the community.

Through the support of the Australian Embassy Direct Aid Program (DAP), in collaboration with the Rolan Foundation, transformation is already underway with the installation of a solar power system at the facility.

This solar-powered lighting at the Primary Health Center is helping to ensure safe maternal care, child health services, and emergency response day and night, regardless of power supply.

A step forward in bringing light, hope, and better care to the people of Ondo East.
