DHDEI hits 413 Beneficiaries In 2026 as 172 New Youths Resume Skills Training In Ilaje

The Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative, DHDEI, has enrolled another 172 youths into its vocational empowerment programme, taking the total number of beneficiaries in 2026 to 413. The new beneficiaries were officially allocated to their respective skills on Saturday, 8 August 2026, immediately after the successful DHDEI Youth Empowerment Symposium in Igbokoda, and are scheduled to resume learning on Monday.

The latest intake joins the 241 beneficiaries who commenced training in April 2026, further expanding DHDEI's practical youth development intervention through vocational and entrepreneurial skills acquisition.

The beneficiaries have been allocated to various skills, including Photography, Cake Baking, Solar Installation, Tailoring, Barbing, Frame Making, Bag Making, Hair Installation, Graphic Design and other vocational skills. Depending on the skill selected, training will last between six months and two years, providing participants with adequate time to develop practical competence.

The allocation immediately after the symposium underscores DHDEI's approach of translating conversations about youth empowerment into practical action. While stakeholders gathered to discuss skills, jobs, enterprise and economic survival, the new beneficiaries received their training allocations and are now set to begin their skills acquisition journey on Monday.

Parents, including Mrs. Ayelo Dupe and Mrs. Nejo Mercy Ranti, spoke positively about DHDEI and its empowerment programmes, expressing appreciation for the opportunities being created for young people. The beneficiaries also welcomed the opportunity to acquire practical and income generating skills at no training fee cost.

With 413 youths enrolled in 2026 alone, DHDEI continues to expand access to vocational skills and practical empowerment opportunities. The Vice Chancellor of Sam Maris University, Supare Akoko, Professor Francis Gbore, will headline the 2026 Youth Empowerment Symposium of the Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative, DHDEI, as keynote speaker, alongside prominent personalities from across Ondo State, traditional rulers, two Council Chairmen, lawmakers, youth leaders and other distinguished guests expected to converge on Igbokoda to celebrate the growing impact of the organisation's youth empowerment interventions across the region.

The symposium, scheduled for Saturday, 8 August 2026, at 10:00 AM prompt at The Williams Hall, G.R.A., Igbokoda, will be held under the theme, “Beyond Certificates: Building Skilled Youths for Jobs, Enterprise and Economic Survival.” State and National Assembly Legislatures, youth leaders from different groups across Ondo State and other stakeholders are expected to grace the event, which has continued to attract significant attention beyond the immediate community.

The gathering will provide an opportunity for prominent Ondo State personalities to celebrate the impact of DHDEI, particularly its sustained investment in practical skills, entrepreneurship and youth development. The event will also feature royal representation, with the Royal Fathers joining other distinguished guests in recognising the organisation's contribution to equipping young people with practical skills capable of creating livelihoods and strengthening local economies.

More than 600 participants are expected, including over 350 beneficiaries of the 2026 empowerment programme and more than 50 products of previous DHDEI programmes. Professor Gbore's keynote lecture will draw attention to the urgent need to move beyond academic certificates towards practical skills, job creation, enterprise development and economic survival, reinforcing the central message of the symposium.

Another major highlight will be the launch of the DHDEI ₦15 Million Start Up Kits Fund, a bold initiative aimed at mobilising resources to provide essential work tools and start up kits for graduates of the organisation's vocational empowerment programmes. The initiative represents another step in DHDEI's empowerment philosophy, supporting beneficiaries beyond training and helping them transition from acquired skills to actual economic activity, self employment and sustainable livelihoods.

The symposium will also showcase the practical results of DHDEI's interventions, with selected beneficiaries in Barbing, Make Up, Hairdressing and Hair Installation expected to provide free services to members of the public. DHDEI Set to Reach 364 Youths Through 2026 Empowerment Programme as 123 New Beneficiaries Resume Training Saturday

The Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative, DHDEI, is set to reach a total of 364 beneficiaries through its 2026 Ilaje Youth Empowerment Programme, following the selection of 123 new beneficiaries under the second edition of the initiative.

The development follows the receipt of 261 applications for the second edition, with 196 applicants appearing for the physical screening exercise. Following the screening and selection process, 123 applicants were successfully selected and will resume their vocational skills training on Saturday, 8 August 2026, the same day as the DHDEI Ilaje Youth Empowerment Symposium in Igbokoda.

The new intake will join the 241 beneficiaries empowered during the first edition earlier in 2026, bringing DHDEI's total number of beneficiaries under the Ilaje Youth Empowerment Programme in 2026 to 364. The achievement further demonstrates the organisation's growing commitment to creating practical opportunities for young people through skills development and empowerment.

Although known as the Ilaje Youth Empowerment Programme, the intervention is not restricted to Ilaje indigenes. Beneficiaries are drawn from different communities and backgrounds, including Okitipupa, Irele, Ijaw and Apoi communities, Osun State, the Igbo community and other locations, reflecting the programme's expanding reach beyond a single geographical or ethnic group.

The beneficiaries will acquire different vocational and entrepreneurial skills, ranging from Solar Installation to Furniture Making, among several other skill areas. The training is provided at no training fee cost, subject to the programme's terms and conditions, with training durations extending from shorter courses to programmes lasting up to two years, depending on the skill being acquired.

The commencement of the new training cycle coincides with DHDEI's Ilaje Youth Empowerment Symposium themed, “Beyond Certificates: Building Skilled Youths for Jobs, Enterprise and Economic Survival.” The development marks another significant milestone in DHDEI's commitment to equipping young people with practical skills that can create opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable economic survival.

Six AFUED Students Defy Academic Demands, Finish DHDEI Make Up Artistry Training Strong

Six students of Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, have successfully completed their Make Up Artistry training under the Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative, DHDEI, earning professional certificates after a year long journey defined by determination, dedication and perseverance.

The six beneficiaries were among ten students initially selected to undergo Make Up Artistry training at Maltida's Glamz Academy, Ondo, at no training fee cost. While the programme was originally scheduled to last six months, their demanding university lecture schedules extended the training to one year. Despite the academic pressure and competing responsibilities, the six remained committed to the journey and eventually completed their training successfully.

The newly certified Make Up Artists are Yakubu Rofiat Opeyemi, Accounting, 200 Level; Olawole Joy Folakemi, Economics, 200 Level; Mudashir Dasola Busihat, Biology, 200 Level; Tawose Omotolani, English, 200 Level; Salami Simbiat Bolanle, Economics, 400 Level; and Ajuwon Azeezat Ope, Economics, 400 Level. Their achievement demonstrates how practical skills acquisition can complement university education and equip students with additional opportunities beyond the classroom.

The certification ceremony was to the knowledge of Professor Babajide Jelili, Dean, Faculty of Science, Adeyemi Federal University of Education, Ondo, who commended the graduates for their tenacity, commitment and determination to finish strong. He applauded their ability to remain focused despite the demanding nature of their academic programmes and the challenges that prolonged their training journey.

The training was facilitated by Edigbe Josephine Ewoma, Director of Maltida's Glamz, who guided the beneficiaries through their Make Up Artistry training and practical development. Speaking at the occasion, Akingbade Toluwa Jolomi urged the newly certified artists not to put their acquired skills under the bed, but to take them to the world, showcase their abilities and turn their skills into meaningful opportunities. He emphasised that the true value of empowerment is realised when acquired skills are put into practice.

For DHDEI, the achievement represents another tangible outcome of its commitment to developing young people through practical skills and opportunities. Ahead of the Ilaje Youth Symposium scheduled for Saturday, 8 August 2026, the Board Chairman of the Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative (DHDEI), Professor Bolanle Ogungbamila, today led a high level delegation to Sam Maris University, Supare Akoko, Ondo State, as preparations for the landmark event gathered momentum.

The delegation comprised the Visionary of DHDEI, Akingbade Toluwa Jolomi, alongside three prominent leaders of the National Association of Ilaje Students (NAIS): the AAUA Chapter President, Obajimi Philip Adeboye, the Emeritus General Secretary, NAIS AAUA Chapter, Ekudehinwa Faith Oyinade, and the NAIS National Public Relations Officer, Abilogun Omoniyi Oluwaseyifunmi.

DHDEI 2027 Mega Students Empowerment Programme Receives Royal Backing as Iralepo of Isinkan Accepts Royal Father Role

The Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative (DHDEI) is intensifying preparations for its 2027 Mega Students Empowerment Programme, an initiative designed to provide free vocational and entrepreneurial skills training for students of Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, at no training fee cost, subject to eligibility requirements and programme terms.

The programme seeks to complement academic learning by equipping students with practical income generating skills for entrepreneurship, self reliance, and career development. Beneficiaries will undergo training at designated partner centres during lecture free periods, weekends, and public holidays, ensuring their academic activities remain uninterrupted. Training duration will range from six months to two years, depending on the selected vocational skill.

As part of the continued efforts towards the successful implementation of the programme, the Visionary of DHDEI, Akingbade Toluwa Jolomi, paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Oba Gbenga Ojo, the Iralepo of Isinkan, at his palace in Isinkan, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The visit provided an opportunity to appreciate Kabiyesi for his support and encouragement towards youth development initiatives, while also presenting the vision behind the AFUED Student Empowerment Programme. His Royal Majesty warmly received the DHDEI Visionary, offered prayers for the continued growth of the organisation, and expressed his support for the empowerment initiative.

In a significant development, the Iralepo of Isinkan graciously accepted to serve as the Royal Father of the 2027 Students Empowerment Symposium, which will hold after the successful completion of the empowerment programme.

Registration has officially opened for the 2026 Second Edition of the Dakiz Human Development Empowerment Initiative, DHDEI, Youth Empowerment Programme, offering young people another opportunity to acquire practical skills, develop their talents, and take a meaningful step towards economic independence.

The first edition recorded a remarkable milestone, attracting over 500 applications and successfully empowering 241 young people through practical skills training across various training centres. The programme has continued to attract encouraging feedback and positive testimonies from beneficiaries, many of whom have gained valuable skills, practical knowledge, and renewed confidence to pursue their aspirations.

Speaking on the commencement of registration, the 2026 Empowerment Committee Chairman, Feyijimi Adesoji Daniel, urged young people to seize the opportunity and register for the programme. He encouraged youths not to allow this opportunity to pass them by, emphasising that acquiring relevant and practical skills remains an important pathway to personal growth, self reliance, and economic empowerment.

In a significant show of royal goodwill and support for youth development, the Dakiz Human Development and Empowerment Initiative, DHDEI, has received prayers, royal blessings and encouragement from traditional rulers as preparations intensify for its forthcoming Youth Empowerment Symposium in Ilaje. The royal engagements underscore the growing support for DHDEI's efforts to equip young people with practical skills, create opportunities and promote sustainable youth development across Ondo South.

The DHDEI team, led by its Visionary, Akingbade Toluwa-Jolomi, first visited His Royal Majesty, Oba Adetoye Obatuga, the Jegun of Idepe Kingdom, Okitipupa, where the delegation formally presented the vision of the Symposium and briefed the royal father on the organisation's youth empowerment programmes and its commitment to developing young people across the region.

During the visit, the Jegun of Idepe Kingdom commended DHDEI for its efforts in empowering youths through skills acquisition and other development initiatives. His Royal Majesty offered prayers for the success of the Symposium and pledged his support, expressing his willingness to honour the event with his royal presence.

The delegation also paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty, Oba Segun Adetuwo, the Olu of Igodan Kingdom, where the team equally sought the royal father's prayers and blessings and extended a formal invitation to the Symposium. The visit further strengthened the relationship between DHDEI and traditional institutions in the region.

The delegation included Postulant Akintewe Adewale, Co Chairman of the Symposium Planning Committee, Mr. Orimoloye Tunde, and Mr. Omomobi Gideon, a beneficiary of DHDEI's empowerment programme. The team explained that although the Symposium will be hosted in Ilaje, DHDEI's empowerment initiatives are designed to reach young people across Ondo South.

Beneficiaries of DHDEI's programmes have been drawn from Ilaje, Okitipupa, Ese Odo, Irele, Odigbo and neighbouring communities, reflecting the organisation's commitment to inclusive youth development and the creation of opportunities for young people across the region.

To enhance coordination, beneficiaries volunteered to serve in various committees responsible for logistics, protocol, publicity, hall management, registration, and other key aspects of the symposium, demonstrating a shared commitment to the success of the programme.
