This month, we proudly spotlight Mr. Akinro Akintunde, a 2019 Anatomy graduate whose transition from health sciences into technology, education and entrepreneurship has been truly inspiring.
Now leading operations at Urvan Concept and mentoring young people in Canada, Mr. Akinro shares how his interest in technology began during his university days, influenced by peers exploring web development.
What started with selling website ideas and managing projects grew into learning web development, building a career in cybersecurity, and teaching others.
Driven by a passion to create opportunities, he founded Urvan Concept, which became one of the early tech training hubs in Lekki, Lagos, training over 100 students in its first six months. Through the platform, he continues to support individuals and organizations with training in cybersecurity, software development, cloud computing and data analytics.
In this feature, he reflects on overcoming imposter syndrome, investing in himself, earning a cybersecurity degree with honors, and the lessons that have shaped his journey, including patience, sacrifice and staying open to learning. He also shares the fulfillment of helping others successfully transition into tech.
He encourages students and graduates to move beyond their original fields without fear, emphasizing continuous learning, adaptability, and openness to opportunities in an AI-driven world, while aiming to empower others, expand education through technology, and build a lasting legacy focused on knowledge sharing, opportunity, and transformation.
His story is a powerful reminder that your starting point does not define your destination.
