OSPAC COUNTERS ONELGA CHAIRMAN’S FINANCIAL CLAIMS, RELEASES ACCOUNT DETAILS
The leadership of the Organized Security, Peace and Advisory Committee (OSPAC) has responded to claims made by ONELGA Chairman, Dr. Shedrack Chukwu Ogbogu, over funding of the outfit.
In a statement released after the Chairman’s live broadcast on 13 May 2026, OSPAC Commander Comrade Emeka Onyeocha presented the outfit’s financial records to correct what he called “misinformation” about payments to OSPAC.
Key points from OSPAC:
1. Coverage & Strength: OSPAC runs 6 zonal barracks across ONELGA, plus the Omoku headquarters, with about 680 personnel deployed daily to maintain peace and security.
2. Actual Allocation: The monthly allocation to the outfit is about ₦5 million. When shared among 680 personnel, that’s roughly *₦7,352 per operative per month* — excluding logistics, equipment maintenance, transport, and other field costs.
3. Welfare Gap: OSPAC says there are no medical benefits or welfare packages for operatives who risk their lives daily to protect lives and property.
4. Contradiction: This contradicts claims that ONELGA pays OSPAC ₦10 million monthly. OSPAC insists transparency is needed to protect the integrity of the organization.
Why this matters:
OSPAC operatives are on the frontline of community security in ONELGA. Paying men who risk their lives ₦7,352 a month is not sustainable. It undermines morale and weakens the fight against crime.
The public debate in ONELGA now centers on improved welfare, transparency, and stronger support for community-based security — especially with rising security challenges across Rivers State.
RPA’s Position:
We commend OSPAC for their sacrifice and for coming forward with facts. We call on ONELGA LGA to review OSPAC’s funding and welfare package immediately. Security is not cheap, and those who keep us safe deserve more than token support.
