Today I was humbled and blessed to meet a young brother the same age as my own son, a brother whom Allah ﷻ has blessed with a great platform, Noussair Mazraoui, a player for Manchester United here in the UK.
We sat together and spoke about reality. We did not speak about the dunya, fame, money, or football. We spoke about life, hardships, calamities, gratitude, and the reality that everything in this world can change overnight.
SubhanAllah, hearing him speak about the struggles he and his family went through growing up with very little, coming from a Moroccan background, and then seeing the success Allah ﷻ has written for him today, was truly moving. But what touched me the most was his humility and his advice: “Keep doing good because it can all go away tomorrow.”
That is the reality of this temporary world. Fame fades, wealth disappears, status ends, but your actions and deeds remain.
I had the honour of giving him a gift. Even though he wears the jersey of a football team, I gave him the real jersey — the Team Akhirah jersey. The “Every Soul Shall Taste Death” Muslim Undertaker special. Because at the end of the day, every single one of us will return back to Allah ﷻ.
كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ
“Every soul shall taste death.”
(Qur’an 3:185)
May Allah ﷻ bless our brother Nasser, reward him, protect him, grant him peace, prosperity, sincerity, and keep him firm upon goodness. And may Allah ﷻ bless his parents, whom he spoke about with so much love and respect.
Never forget where you came from, because the grave does not care about fame, followers, titles, or trophies. It only cares about what you sent forward for
r akhirah.
