BE DRIVE BY COMPASSION
“And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.” (Matthew 14: 14)
Jesus was moved with compassion towards the multitude that came to Him in the desert. Out of compassion, Jesus healed the sick amongst them. Because of compassion, Jesus even got the disciples involved in the matter of feeding the multitude. The multitude ought to have made feeding arrangements before going into a desert to see Jesus, yet Jesus would not leave them stranded.
Friend, glean some wisdom from Jesus: dare to be compassionate. Even when it seems that your multitude has not done enough to deserve a response from you, still walk in compassion and do for them more than they deserve. Even when you have reasons to crucify certain people around you, remember the compassion of God that has spared you despite your own errors, and spare your offenders. Let compassion guide your actions.
Jesus could have analyzed the seeming lack of planning of the multitude. It didn’t even make sense that anyone would go into a desert without a plan for refreshment; He saw through their incomplete planning and He came through for them even when they were yet to ask Him to help. When life gives you the opportunity, don’t stop at analyzing the failure of your ‘multitude’; go the extra mile and do for them more than they deserve.
The moment Jesus responded to the multitude with compassion, the next thing that happened, was a manifestation of miracles. Compassion on the part of Jesus opened the doors of miracles to the multitude. Your compassion is a gateway to someone else’s miracle. Your acts of kindness might just be the answer to someone’s prayers. Your act of mercy might just be the link that will position some men in their new season.
If life gives you a chance to meet a ‘multitude’ that has not made sufficient plans for the ‘desert’, let compassion drive your actions. When you have a chance to show mercy, don’t withhold it.
Matthew 5: 7 says: “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.”
