But one thing about him? He shows up sharp, stays intentional, and somehow still makes impact look easy.

If you’ve met him before, you already know… if you haven’t, now you do 👀

Say hi to Godwin in the comments 👋🏽✨

On Thursday, May 14, Response to Health and Right Initiative participated in the Impact Unity Football Match organized by the Rotaract Club of Lagos State University.

The event created a space where students and young people came together through sports, community engagement, and shared experiences beyond the classroom.

As part of our participation, we conducted free medical testing for attendees, giving participants the opportunity to check in on their health in an open and accessible environment. It was also a chance to have simple but important conversations around wellbeing and preventive care.

In addition, our team supported the closing segment of the event by presenting medals to participants, celebrating effort, teamwork, and the spirit of unity that the match represented.

Events like this continue to highlight how community, youth engagement, and health can come together in practical ways that go beyond awareness and into real interaction.

We appreciate the Rotaract Club of LASU for the invitation and for creating an impactful experience.

We were invited by the Student Union of Lagos State University to provide free health checks for students as part of efforts to promote health awareness and encourage access to basic health services within the campus community.

The outreach created an opportunity for students to check in on their health, receive support, and engage in conversations around wellbeing and preventive care.

At Response to Health and Right Initiative, we believe that accessible health services and community engagement play an important role in building healthier communities.

We appreciate the Student Union for the invitation and everyone who came out to participate.

On Friday, TRAHI Nigeria facilitated a Mental Health and Community Resilience Training for our team at Response to Health and Right Initiative.

The session focused on strengthening staff capacity around mental health, trauma, and community resilience, while equipping our team with knowledge and approaches that support the work we do within our communities.

The training also created space for important conversations around trauma-informed support, emotional wellbeing, and the importance of building safer and more supportive environments for the people we serve.

We appreciate TRAHI Nigeria for the insightful session and the valuable knowledge shared with our team.

Many people are told:
“Be strong.”
“Pray about it.”
“Don’t think too much.”
“Other people have it worse.”

And while these responses may come from a place of care or familiarity, they can sometimes make it harder for people to openly talk about what they’re experiencing or seek the support they need.

Mental health challenges are real, and support can look different for different people. Sometimes, people need rest. Sometimes, they need safe spaces, understanding, psychosocial support, or professional help.

At Response to Health and Right Initiative, we believe conversations around mental health should be approached with empathy, awareness, and support—not silence or shame.

Because mental health is health too.

Sometimes, needing space is healthy.
Sometimes, it becomes avoidance.

So… where do we draw the line?

We asked members of our team:
At what point does “I need space” become unhealthy?

Because while taking space can help us process emotions and recharge, shutting people out completely for long periods, avoiding communication, or isolating ourselves without support can begin to affect our relationships and wellbeing.

Healthy space should create room to breathe not disconnect us completely.

Psychosocial support is not just about “talking.”
It’s about helping people navigate emotional, social, and life challenges in healthier and safer ways.

Sometimes, stress, stigma, difficult experiences, or isolation can affect how we think, feel, and cope ,and we know support can make a real difference.

At Response to Health and Right Initiative, we believe everyone deserves access to care, safe spaces, and support systems that help them feel seen, heard and understood.

You do not have to go through it alone.

We paid an advocacy visit to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) as part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement around community health and support systems.
During the visit, we shared insights into the work we do at Response to Health and Right Initiative, including our focus on mental health and psychosocial support, as well as our broader work with communities.
The meeting created space for meaningful conversations around collaboration, understanding, and the importance of supportive approaches.
We appreciate the opportunity to engage and look forward to continued dialogue.
