OGHA 2027: HON. ADEKUNLE ÀJÀYÍ ABDULLATEEF GAINS MOMENTUM AS MANDATE GROUP HOSTS CONSULTATION, ENDORSEMENTS POUR IN
*Abeokuta, Ogun State* — The aspiration of Hon. Adekunle Ajayi Abdullateef to represent Obafemi Owode State Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly gained significant traction on Sunday, following a strategic consultation with the influential Mandate Group in Abeokuta. The meeting, which attracted key political stakeholders from across the local government, produced strong pledges of support and resounding testimonials affirming the aspirant’s capacity for effective representation.
Popularly known as IYANA, the frontline aspirant was warmly received by a large and enthusiastic gathering of party faithful whose chants and solidarity songs underscored his growing acceptance at the grassroots. The consultation, part of his ongoing engagement with critical blocs ahead of the 2027 party primaries, had in attendance political leaders, former office holders, women and youth representatives, and ward executives from all parts of Obafemi Owode.
In his address, Hon. Ajayi paid glowing tribute to the leader of the Mandate Group, former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun, acknowledging his enduring leadership and contributions to political development within Obafemi Owode Local Government. Drawing from his stewardship as Councillor representing Owode Ward, he highlighted various projects and empowerment initiatives he personally facilitated across the 12 wards of the constituency, all anchored on service and commitment to grassroots development. He assured party leaders that, if entrusted with the party’s ticket, he would institutionalize inclusive governance and ensure that democratic dividends reach every ward, with a deliberate focus on equity, development, and responsive legislative representation.
The aspirant’s record of service quickly became the dominant theme as party stalwarts took turns to speak. Comrade Olalekan Oguntayo, former Secretary to the Local Government, described IYANA as a dependable leader who has consistently deployed personal resources to execute community projects and empowerment programmes across the entire constituency. Hon. Alhaja Risikat commended him as a compassionate, accessible, and reliable politician who places the welfare of his constituents above all else, and she appealed to party leaders to back his emergence as the candidate. Hon. Adebayo Titus corroborated those remarks, describing Hon. Ajayi as committed, hardworking, and a loyal team player who has shown consistent dedication to the party and its ideals.
Lending legislative credibility to the endorsements, Hon. Bamidele Erisan, a former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly who represented Obafemi Owode State Constituency, stated that Hon. Ajayi commands widespread respect and has consistently demonstrated genuine interest in the welfare of the people, noting that his leadership approach has earned him goodwill across the constituency.
Delivering what many considered the defining assessment of the day, Hon. Mutair Adisa Ajayi, Chairman of the Mandate Group, declared that among all aspirants who had so far consulted the group, IYANA stands out. He referenced Ajayi’s experience as a serving Councillor and his numerous interventions in project delivery, job creation, and empowerment that extend beyond his ward to the entire local government as clear evidence of capacity. He therefore urged members of the Mandate Group to support Ajayi’s emergence as the party’s candidate in the interest of effective and people-centered representation.
The wave of support continued with Comrade Matthew Sopade, who spoke on behalf of ward chairmen in the local government, praising IYANA’s leadership qualities while encouraging him to remain steadfast and expressing optimism about his chances at the polls. Hon. Mustapha Fatai Eruobodo, former Transition Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, lauded the aspirant’s leadership style, offered prayers for his success, and expressed confidence that his aspiration would yield positive outcomes, _Insha’Allah_.
The women and youth constituencies were unequivocal in their backing. Mrs. Kabirat Dasaolu, the Local Government Woman Leader, speaking for the women’s wing, declared total support for IYANA’s aspiration and pledged that women across the constituency were ready to mobilize for his success. Representatives of the youth constituency echoed similar sentiments, citing his empowerment record as proof of his commitment to the next generation.
Closing the meeting, Mr. Babatunde Sobowale, Ward Chairman of Owode Ward, expressed appreciation to party leaders, women, and youths for their participation. He appealed to stakeholders to consider zoning the Assembly seat to Owode Ward and to support Hon. Adekunle Ajayi Abdullateef, whom he described as a qualified aspirant, stressing that fairness and inclusiveness must guide the selection process.
The high-level consultative meeting had in attendance notable party leaders including Chief Adisa Soyoye, Dr. Femi Akinbile, Alhaji Kunle Sonola, Comrade Olalekan Oguntayo, Hon. Fatai Osholake, Comrade Malik Soneye, Hon. Alhaja Risikat, Mr. Kamorudeen Shonekan, Comrade Mathew Sopade, Hon. Bajela Francis, Hon. Kehinde Akinsola Taiwo, and Hon. Adesina Olowobafu, alongside youth and women representatives who all contributed to the atmosphere of unity and purpose.
The engagement with the Mandate Group represents another major step in Hon. Ajayi’s consultations as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections. His message of proven experience, accessibility, and ward-to-ward development continues to resonate strongly with stakeholders seeking credible and tested representation for Obafemi Owode.
