Ntui Ekun Agricultural and livestock cooperative A refugee led agricultural empowerment cooperation aimed to stop food shortage and hunger crises

03/02/2023

As the saying goes "No food for a lazy Man", We the Ekun Agricultural and livestock cooperative are putting in our endless efforts to ensure the betterment of the refugees and to fight against hunger Crises, food shortage, malnutrition, crime rate and dependency rate in the refugee settlement by making use of the soil.
Here is the cultivation of vegetables at large quantity.
Vegetables are source of vitamins and mineral. There are different vegetables to lace the local Nigerian food and soups, but pumpkin leaf a.k.a ugu leaf is on top as it is cross-cultural. Fluted pumpkin leaf is a tropical vine plant native to West Africa and a lucrative means of making money this season. Ugu leaf, unlike other plants, is easy to plant and harvest, it grows very fast and can be harvested within six weeks of planting. On its maturity, you can harvest and sell almost every week, thus creating a means of good cash flow.
Due to financial crisis as refugees and no support from anywhere,we could not meet up with renting enough land to plant the size of vegetable we aimed to have done.

We really say a big thanks to and many other who are restless to ensure the are fine.
We are pleading with a humble heart that they should give us a helping hands πŸ‘ so that we can put a smile on the faces of our fellow refugees because we are on the same shoes and we knows how it pains, so we have decided to put in our best πŸ’ͺ to make our people happy.
Stay tuned as we grow these vegetables together.

Life's persistent and most urgent question is " what are you doing for others?".
"Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds you plant ".

The thrill of taking lasts a day. The thrill of giving lasts a lifetime. It is not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving. We must be able to help others, without any reason and giving without the expectation of receiving anything in return. Ntui Ekun Agricultural and livestock cooperative Ekun Agricultural and livestock cooperative celebrated its first cassava harvest by distributing garri manufactured from the cassava. We at Ntui Ekun Agricultural and livestock cooperative were able to produce 200kg of garri, which we distributed to Cameroonian Refugees in Adagom 1 Settlement.

"INTO THE HEART OF THE REFUGEES"

It's been a while that CBI has not been given to us the refugees and we all know how things are very difficult these times especially with us the refugees, putting food on our tables is a serious problem, some days we are not even sure of one square meal thus making life very boring and frustrating. Many others think of going back home not minding the ongoing war at home while many others have gone and ended up loosing their lives by gunshots which brings us more pains and sorrows into our hearts, many others have done crazy things because hunger which have landed them into the prison while some have been patiently waiting for the CBI PAYMENT.
Looking at all these happenings around us, we the Ntui Ekun Agricultural cooperative members decided decided to join our hands and heads together and bring forth something that can sustain our fellow refugees before the upcoming CBI payment will be made.
We decided to uproot some cassava from our cooperative farm, raised money to pay the technician to process the cassava into garri that was distributed to a great number of refugees here at the Adagom 1 refugee settlement on Saturday 26 of November 2022. It's just a little token of passion, and We are still looking up to do more by God's gracias.

Please, let nobody misquote us, we are doing this for the love of humanity and feelings towards our fellow refugees and not for any other personal purpose and also to inspire us the refugees that if we come together in cooperation, it will help us reason together and bring solutions to our problems and also to become productive and tangible to our communities and host countries, that is to say that been a refugee does not gives you any reason to fill like all hopes are gone because been alive is better more than those death, why then sit and wait for manna to fall from heaven for you?, rather we can still play a role in fighting against food shortage and hunger crises in our societies and host countries by bringing tangible ideas together that will be contributive and productive to our living standard as refugees, hence reducing idleness, crimes and dependency rate amongst us and also addinNtui Ekun Cooperative
