WORLD YOUTH SKILLS DAY 2026
Empowering the Boy Child Through Skills for a Sustainable Future
In commemoration of World Youth Skills Day 2026, the Soledotun Abdulkarim-Yusuf Foundation (SAF) Soledotun Abdulkarim-Yusuf Foundation organized an impactful skills advocacy programme aimed at inspiring young boys to embrace vocational skills alongside their academic education.
The programme, facilitated by the Founder and Chairman of SAF, was held with pupils from Raufu Williams Primary School and Premier Nursery and Primary School. The session also attracted boys from neighbouring streets, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to about 120 boys.
During the interactive session, participants learned the importance of acquiring practical skills from an early age. The facilitator emphasized that skill acquisition keeps young people productively engaged, builds self-reliance, and helps prevent involvement in social vices.
An engaging discussion revealed that several of the boys had already begun learning vocational trades such as mechanics, vulcanizing, tailoring, and carpentry, demonstrating that many young people are already taking positive steps towards securing their future.
At SAF, we remain committed to empowering the boy child through education, mentorship, leadership, and skills development because today’s investment in boys is tomorrow’s investment in stronger families, safer communities, and a more prosperous society.
Together, we will continue to inspire, equip, and empower the next generation of leaders.
