Hon. (Engr.) Victor Ochei, former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, has formally resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending a decade-long association with the party and fueling speculation about a possible Senate run.

In a statement released to supporters and the people of Delta State, Ochei said the decision followed โ€œdeep reflections and wide consultations,โ€ describing it as โ€œdifficult but necessaryโ€ for the continuation of his political journey.

Ochei recalled joining the APC in 2016 and said he had spent the last ten years building the party at all levels. He credited himself and other party faithful with expanding the APCโ€™s reach, deepening its structures, and mobilizing support across communities in the state.

โ€œI leave the party proud of the progress we made together,โ€ he stated, noting contributions to youth and womenโ€™s participation, bridge-building across political divides, and democratic engagement in Delta State and beyond.

The former lawmaker said his departure was not driven by โ€œbitterness, resentment, or hostility,โ€ but by a need for broader political growth and alignment with his convictions on inclusion, fairness, and service.

This move comes as pressure mounts from Ocheiโ€™s supporters across Delta North and beyond urging him to contest for the Senate. Many of those supporters have publicly said they are seeking an alternative political option to former Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa and incumbent Senator Prince Ned Nwoko. It appears Ocheiโ€™s resignation and next steps may be linked to honoring that call.

Ochei thanked supporters, leaders, and stakeholders who stood with him during his time in the APC, and urged them to remain peaceful and committed to democratic ideals as he moves forward. He did not announce his next political platform in the statement.

โ€œAs I move forward to continue my political journey from the APC, I do so with hope, renewed determination, and faith in the future,โ€ Ochei said.

Questions:
Will he move to NDC, ADC, Labour Party, SDP, or another platform ahead of 2027? Will he formally declare for Delta North Senatorial District to respond to supportersโ€™ calls for an alternative to Okowa and Ned Nwoko? When he says โ€œlong before many who currently occupy positions,โ€ which party leaders is he addressing?

EXIT STATEMENT BY RT. HON. VICTOR OCHEI

My dear political associates, supporters, friends, and the good people of Delta State,

After deep reflections and wide consultations, I have taken the difficult but necessary decision to formally resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and move on to continue my political journey elsewhere.

In 2016, I joined the All Progressives Congress with sincerity of purpose and a strong belief in the vision and future of the party. Over the last ten years, I devoted myself wholeheartedly to building and strengthening the APC at all levels. Together with many committed party faithfuls, we expanded the partyโ€™s reach, deepened its structures, mobilized support across communities, and worked tirelessly to give the party relevance and visibility within our political environment. Long before many who currently occupy positions within the party joined the political family they now belong to, I had already committed myself to the ideals of leadership, service, grassroots development, and the pursuit of a better society for our people.

I leave the party proud of the progress we made together. We nurtured relationships, built bridges across divides, encouraged participation among the youth and women, and contributed meaningfully to democratic growth and political engagement within our state and beyond.

However, growth remains a constant necessity in every institution, political movement and human endeavour. Leadership must continually evolve to reflect inclusion, mutual respect, fairness, and the aspirations of the people. It is in recognition of this need for broader growth and the continuation of my political convictions that I have chosen to chart a new course.

This decision is not borne out of bitterness, resentment, or hostility toward anyone. Rather, it is inspired by my enduring commitment to service, progress, and the political future I envision for our people.

I remain grateful to the many loyal supporters, leaders, stakeholders, and party members who stood with me throughout this journey. Your friendship, trust, and dedication will always be appreciated and remembered.

As I move forward to continue my political journey from the APC, I do so with hope, renewed determination, and faith in the future. I urge all my supporters and associates to remain peaceful, focused, and committed to the democratic ideals we all share.

May God continue to bless Delta State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Rt. Hon.(Engr.) Victor O. Ochei (Esq)

As Senator for Delta Central, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege delivered what the Delta State Government couldnโ€™t: he facilitated the establishment of the first tertiary institution in Ukwuani land โ€” the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences (FUMHS).

He didnโ€™t stop there. He revamped his alma mater, St. Georgeโ€™s Grammar School, Obinomba, transforming it into a modern, well-equipped institution.

While serving as Deputy Senate President, he was also pushing hard to bring the IPP Phase 2 power project to light up Ukwuani nation. That effort was allegedly stalled by one of our own sons.

For many, heโ€™s more than a neighbour in politics. Heโ€™s an Ukwuani man by association, by love, and by the years he spent schooling right here in Ukwuani land.

Now, after resigning from the APC, heโ€™s expected to join another party and pursue his next ambition. The big question is: will he run for Senate again or go for Governor?

Hereโ€™s the reality on the ground:
If he runs for Senate, Ukwuani may not vote for him.
But if he runs for Governor, the story changes โ€” many say they would.

So over to you:
If Omo-Agege runs for Governor, will you vote for him?
And would you be willing to transfer your voterโ€™s card to his district to vote for him if he decides to vie for senate?

Apart from Great Ovedje Ogboru, who contested seven times for governor of Delta State without success, are there politicians with genuinely loyal supporters who werenโ€™t bribed? One of his supporters affirmed, โ€œI will vote for him even if he runs a hundred times. Champion that don't quits.โ€ Do champions truly never quit?

The man who facilitated the establishment of the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences (FUMHS) in Ukwuani land, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, CFR, KSJI, Deputy President of the 9th Senate and Obarisi of Urhoboland, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect.

In a letter to the Chairman of Orogun Ward 2, Ughelli North LGA, Omo-Agege said the decision followed a review of recent developments within the APC in Delta State and consultations with associates and supporters.

โ€œI will not remain a sitting duck in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State and Nigeria,โ€ he said.

He thanked the APC for the opportunity to serve as Deputy President of the 9th Senate, and requested that his name be removed from all membership records, registers, and communication lists.

Omo-Age stated that his focus remains on delivering development and effective representation for Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria. He said he will pursue these goals outside the APC.

Which party is Senator Omo-Age likely to join next ahead of 2027? Do you think he will run for Senate or for Governor if he moves to another party? Will you vote for him if he joins another political party? How will his resignation affect APCโ€™s strength in Delta Central?
