Orring Historical Society

Orring Historical Society We are a registered NGO aimed at promoting the history, culture and language of Orring People of Nigeria. Orring People of Nigeria speak Korring language.

The Orring Communities include Eteji (Ntezi) & Lame (Okpoto) Communities in Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State; the Idzem (Amuda) & Okpolo (Okpomoro) Communities in Ezza North LGA and Ufiom (Effium) in Ohaukwu LGA of Ebonyi State Nigeria. There are also Korring speaking communities in Cross-River & Benue States of Nigeria. One common feature and experience of the Orring People is that w

e are politically & economically marginalised & discriminated against because of our small size, diverse geography and our unique language. As a result, poverty is rife and our language is facing extinction and our culture is fast being subsumed by the more popular culture. Korring language is currently an Endangered Language based on UNESCO criteria. Orring Historical Society is an NGO, registered in Nigeria(Reg No: 151323);
To support the preservation & development of Korring, the language of Orring People of Nigeria;
To prevent extinction of Korring language. To support research, documentation & publication of the history of Orring People;
To promote the rich cultural heritage of Orring People;
To promote the unique Identify of Orring People;
To research into the relationship between various Korring speaking communities in Nigeria.
