The Egbaeze Ibeagwa Eka Festival is far more than just an annual date on a calendar.
It is a spiritual magnet, a cultural renewal, and the literal heartbeat of the Ibeagwa Eka community.

The festival is not a modern party. It is a sacred continuum.
Egbaeze translates to a celebration of royalty, heritage, and the triumphant spirit of the community.

Through masquerade displays, ọja and traditional drumming, the festival bridges the gap between the physical present and the spiritual past.

The ọja speaks a language that only the true sons and daughters of the soil can instinctively feel and understand.

There is a quiet majesty in the Omabe masquerade as captured here. A sacred guardian of the community, stepping out of the spiritual realm to walk among us, bringing blessings and reminding us of our sacred pact with the land and our ancestors. 🙏🏾✨

Let us all gather our things, learn, unlearn, and relearn. Then do it again, and again.

Our Ancestors are among us, mostly not as elders, but as young men and women.

A place have been prepared at the top of the building, there and then we will arrange the pattern.

The Idea is to see everything true the lense of the Igbo man, being that we are Igbo.

Ọdinala greatest commandment of all time;
Accept your personal spirit, your Chi.

Love your personal spirit.

Then, extend this acceptance and love to the spirits in your neighbors, and in all things.

Despite all the evidence that there were planned and implemented political agenda to get rid of the Igbo people, groups and individuals that are very much aware preferred to call it "civil war".

With the aid of major western nations, they have down played the evidence of the genocide and masked it with civil war.

May 30th is a day for remembrance of those who died during the Igbo genocide.

We mourn them!
And we say, Ọzọ emela.

We remember;
The children that died of starvation.
The outnumbered and outgunned Biafran soldiers who fought even as they starved.
We remember those mothers, wives, sisters who prepared whatever they could lay their hands on and rushed off to the trenches to feed their fighting sons, husbands and brothers.

We will not forget those foreign volunteers, pilots and technicians that organised a secret airlift of food and medicine at Uli airport from 1969.
The Nations, countries that did not look away as the genocide was unfolding.

We remember them!

To truly understand an Igbo masquerade, you have to throw out the Western concept of "putting on a costume."

In the Igbo worldview, a masquerade is not a man playing dress-up; it is Maa/Maanwụ—a literal physical transfiguration.

The moment an initiated man dons the sacred mask, his human identity evaporates. He becomes a vessel, a living-dead spirit stepping right out of the ancestral realm and into the land of the living.

Truly, and indeed, the bible is words of God. But then, let's balance it. TFA and Arrow of God by Nze Achebe (may his name never be forgotten) is also words of God. So also is every written materials and spoken words.

It was said that ye are Gods, remember? So, when you speak, it's God or Gods speaking, as the case may be. Every word that came out of our mouth is a word of God. Do you now understand why we guide the tongue, and the gate; mouth, from which the words proceeds?

And for this reason, my wise Ancestors opined, Mmadụ n' ekwu okwu bụ na mmụọ n' ekwuru ya okwu, mmụọ n' ekwu okwu bụ na mmadụ n' ekwuru ya okwu. We are here today speaking because Adada stand with us, and Adada is here because we are here.
This is the words of Adada oshimiri, the God, Gods. The words of my Ancestors, the wisdom of the wise.
