🌻Esomchi Foundation Highlights Field-Level Impact in project Donor Visit

We were delighted to participate in a donor visit from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) under the Project, joining other implementing partners to showcase progress and shared impact.

(Catalyzing Strengthened Policy Action for Healthy Diets and Resilience) is a five-year initiative (2022–2026) implemented across six African countries to strengthen food and nutrition security.

In Nigeria, Esomchi Foundation has been empowering Farmer Field and Business School (FFBS) women processors by providing training on the inclusion of Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) puree in bread and confectionery production, while also promoting household recipes, economic opportunities, and the nutritional benefits of OFSP across four implementing states: Bauchi, Jigawa, Kebbi, and Nasarawa.

The visit provided an important opportunity to highlight field-level achievements, share implementation insights, and demonstrate how community-based innovations are contributing to improved nutrition outcomes.

is implemented by a consortium of CARE and GAIN, with funding support from the Dutch Government, and continues to play a critical role in improving food security and reducing malnutrition among women and children under five.

🌱From Seed Support to Harvest Success: Biofortified Crops Thriving in Jama’are

Recall that Esomchi Foods engaged some outgrowers in Jama’are LGA, Bauchi State last year, providing them with high-quality Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) vines and Vitamin A maize seeds. This support formed part of our broader effort to promote biofortified crops that enhance household nutrition while strengthening rural livelihoods.

Through this intervention, farmers were empowered to cultivate nutrient-dense crops that address Vitamin A deficiency, improve food security, and create sustainable income opportunities within their communities.

Today, we are proud to see the impact firsthand — a thriving Vitamin A Maize and Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) farm cultivated by some of the outgrowers, now ready for harvest, reflecting both the resilience of the farmers and the transformative potential of nutrition-sensitive agriculture.
