DISAPPOINTMENT OVER THE GOVERNANCE OF ANDONI LOCAL GOVERNMENT BY HON. PRINCE LUCKY OTUO
The Obolo Youth Coalition, Rivers State Chapter, wishes to express its deep disappointment and concern over the actions and style of governance of Hon. Prince Lucky Otuo, particularly in his administration of Andoni Local Government Area.
As a coalition committed to the advancement, peace, and development of the Obolo people, we have closely observed developments within Andoni Local Government and find it necessary to speak out in the interest of accountability, transparency, and good governance. Unfortunately, the current administration has failed to meet the expectations and aspirations of the people, especially the youth, who remain critical stakeholders in the development of our communities.
Our concerns stem from perceived lapses in inclusive governance, poor consultation with relevant stakeholders, and a general disconnect between the local government leadership and the pressing needs of the people. Projects and policies that should positively impact grassroots development appear either poorly implemented or entirely absent, leaving many communities underserved.
We are particularly troubled by the apparent neglect of youth engagement and empowerment, which is vital for sustainable development and long-term peace in Andoni Local Government. The continued marginalization of young people in decision-making processes undermines trust and weakens democratic participation at the local level.
The Obolo Youth Coalition strongly believes that leadership is a responsibility that demands responsiveness, fairness, and a genuine commitment to the welfare of the people. We therefore call on Hon. Prince Lucky Otuo to urgently reassess his approach to governance, engage meaningfully with community leaders and youth groups, and prioritize policies that promote development, unity, and social justice across Andoni Local Government.
We also call on relevant authorities and oversight institutions to pay closer attention to the situation in Andoni Local Government and ensure that governance is carried out in accordance with democratic principles and the rule of law.
We demanded the following from the Chairman.
i. Completion of Oyorokoto primary school.
ii. Compensate family of the Innocent people that were killed during the recent cult clash at Andoni Mainland.
iii. Pay 1100 Special Assistance their entitlement or tender an open apology.
iv. Embark on human capital development project in other to empower the youths to stand on their feet.
v. Link Andoni Communities to National grid.
On several fora, Hon. Prince Lucky Otuo have categorically stated that Andoni money is for Andoni People and as such, Andoni will be shining the way his face is shining. Unfortunately, the reverse is the case, as Andoni is even darker after his emergence as Council Boss.
The Obolo Youth Coalition remains committed to peaceful advocacy and constructive engagement. However, we will not shy away from speaking truth to power when the interests and future of our people are at stake.
Signed,
Comr. Jonathan Eyina
Charman, Obolo Youth Coalition Rivers State Chapter.
