Forensic Investigators’ Society, Nigeria (FISN) is a multi-disciplinary forensic organisation that provides forensic education leading to professionalism in the field of forensic science in Africa, particularly in Nigeria. of investigators who need membership of a professional body and also to train members in forensic investigation. The objectives of this society are the following:
• To professionalise the science of Forensics.
• To Provide Opportunities For Education, Training And Development For Forensics Practitioners.
• To Support and Encourage Research And Development In The Forensic Investigations. We have annual conference that enables members and non-members within and outside Nigeria to meet annually to discuss on subject(s) of importance mainly to forensic and investigation in practical terms. We have training courses tailored to help build law enforcement agents, criminologists, law practitioners in investigation capability and particularly those with desire to become private investigators and forensic examiners. The list of the courses we have presently are;

This society have trained quite a number of law enforcement agents and some individuals, in April, 2023 the society graduated a student (a police officer) from the Gambia Police Force in Forensic Document Examination. Membership Grade and Requirement
Professional Fellow (FFIS): The grade is granted to a person who has made significant contribution(s) to the growth of forensic science, sciences, social sciences or investigation in Nigeria and Africa (as a whole), or a member of the criminal justice system, or at least a Master degree holder in any of the fields mentioned above or must have been on the full membership grade for a period of three years with proven attendance in conferences and workshops. Honourary Fellow (FFIS): This is granted to an individual who has supported the growth of forensics investigation in the continent of Africa. Full Member (MFIS): Must be a member of the criminal justice system (i.e Law enforcement agent, Law practitioner, etc.) or a private investigator or possesses a certificate of FISN. (A candidate for this grade who is not a member of the criminal justice system is required to choose a course of training among the following: i. Private Investigation. Forensic Document Examination or iii. Fingerprint Examination etc)
Associate Member (AFIS): Must possess a first degree or its equivalent in any of the sciences or social sciences courses. Student Member (SAFIS): A student currently undergoing a course of study in a recognised institution in any of the Forensic Sciences or courses in the criminal justice field. Collaborative Work
in November 29th and 30th 2023, there was a collaboration between the Society and Chrisland University, a private University in Nigeria on the Society's 4th International Conference. The Society help the university in establishing a forensic laboratory for the Criminology and Security Studies Department, the first of his kind in Nigeria. Forensic Laboratory
The society has a forensic laboratory in km 46, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Redemption Camp, Mowe, Nigeria, the first private forensic laboratory in Nigeria with four sections namely; questioned/forensic document examinations, fingerprint, footwear impression, cyber forensic. Reference
