Luke's Catholic Parish, Miya is in Catholic Diocese of Bauchi. The Diocese has 23 Parishes and 50 Priests including the Bishop, with some Fidei Donum priests from the Archdiocese of Jos, Diocese of Kafanchan, SMA Fathers and St. Patrick's Missionary Society. Luke's parish is currently under the stewardship of St. Patrick's Missionaries who moved into the area in 2009. Since then, many things have
happened by the grace of God. Through the missionary zeal of St. Patrick's Fathers (Frs. Emmanuel Likoko (Sept. 2009- May 2013), Joseph Kioko (Sept. 2009- March 2010), Godfrey Kisabuli (June 2010- Dec. 2012), Emmanuel Edet ( July 2012-Present and Patrick Esekon ( June 2013-Present), Miya area has experienced both spiritual and structural development within a short time. Presently, Miya pastoral area covers 16 out-stations among these 10 are Mass-Centres while the remaining 4 are Service-Centres and the other 2 are Contact-Spots. All the 16 Out-stations are covered by 2 resident priests (Frs. Edet and Esekon), 1 Seminarian (Vincent Agunbiade), 6 trained Catechists and 3 Evangelists. The parish also has a Nursery/ Primary school of about 230 children with 8 teachers. Early this year, the parish opened a nursery school in one of the out-stations called Siri Durumushi. As of now, the Nursery school at Siri Durumushi has about 50 children and one committed teacher. it is worth mentioning that most of the school children in our parish come from within Miya Area and its environs.
