🇳🇬 *Democracy is not the sound of promises; it’s the echo of citizens who refuse to be silent.*

June 12 is more than a date; it’s a reminder that the will of the people can outlive oppression.

Today, we celebrate the courage of those who stood for the right to choose, speak, and dream freely. May we continue to build a Nigeria where every voice counts and every vote matters.

🌱 One Day, Many Seeds of Change

As part of the World Environment Day 2026 celebration, WAGS-M joined NSAGI and other partners at Gidan Kwano, Minna, to promote climate action and environmental sustainability.

The event brought together women, youths, and community members for engaging discussions on environmental responsibility. Participants also took part in a tree-planting exercise, reinforcing the importance of restoring and protecting our environment for future generations.

A major highlight was the training of 25 beneficiaries on briquette production using rice husks and starch, demonstrating how waste can be transformed into a sustainable source of energy while reducing pressure on our forests.

We were honored by the goodwill message of Engr. Dr. Habila Daniel Galadima, Director General of NSAGI, while Amb. Aisha Inuwa Fuka and Amb. Maishera Muhammad shared valuable insights that inspired participants to take action within their communities.

As we reflect on the impact of the day, we hope to see more trees planted, more sustainable energy solutions adopted, and more communities championing environmental stewardship.

🌍 The future we desire begins with the actions we take today.

Now I know I don’t have to miss school when I see my period. That was the first thing a young girl told us after our menstrual hygiene outreach in Lavun. For many people, it may sound like a simple statement. But for us, it was a reminder of why these conversations matter.
To commemorate World Menstrual Hygiene Day, WAGS reached girls in Day Secondary School Limawa, Minna, Suleja, and Lavun, creating safe spaces where questions were welcomed, myths were challenged, and confidence was built.
We listened to their concerns, shared knowledge, laughed, learned, and connected. Beyond the pads and educational materials distributed, we left every girl with a message she deserves to hear:
That menstruation is natural, and it should never stop her from learning, growing or pursuing her dreams.
On 30th May 2026, our outreach teams in Suleja and Lavun joined this movement, reaching more girls with the knowledge and support they need to manage their periods with dignity and confidence. Sometimes, changing a life begins with a conversation. And if one girl can now walk into her classroom with more confidence than she had yesterday, then the conversation was worth having.
Together, let’s keep breaking the silence, ending stigma, and ensuring that every girl menstruates with dignity.

We wonder if there’s a mother somewhere tonight setting an extra plate at dinner, not because her child is coming home, but because hope is hard to let go of. We picture the little girl whose laughter once filled a home, and whose absence now fills every room. We keep asking ourselves, how many families wake up each morning carrying questions with no answers: Where are they? Are they safe? Will we ever see them again?
Truly, Kidnapping doesn’t just take people away, It leaves families without peace, mother’s without sleep, and children without joy. Leaving behind a silence that echoes through homes, schools, and communities. For many of us, when kidnapping flashes on our screens, we scroll on. But for the families affected, the story never ends. Every passing day feels like a lifetime and each ringing phone sparks little hope.
So today, we choose to see beyond the headlines and statistics that these are not just “missing persons” they are daughters, sons, mothers, sisters. They are dreams, futures, and loved ones whose absence is deeply felt.
At WAGS-M, we stand with every family carrying the weight of uncertainty. We lend our voices to the call for stronger protection, greater accountability, and urgent action. And until every woman is safe out there, every child is protected out there, and every missing person is found, we will keep speaking, we will keep hoping, we will keep demanding for action.
Because somewhere, a family is still waiting for the moment they can finally say, welcome home. Bring them home.
