The Executive Governor of Niger State, His Excellency Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, has been honored with an Award of Excellence and named an Honorary Fellow by the Nigerian Environmental Society. This recognition, presented during the Society’s just recent Thirty third (33rd) national conference in Lagos State, acknowledges the Governor’s significant contributions to environmental sustainability. The award was formally presented to Governor Bago today at the Council Chambers by the executives of the Nigerian Environmental Society, Niger State Chapter.

The Nigerian Environmental Society Niger State chapter celebrated this year's World Environment Day on June 5, 2024, in grand style.
The event included a seminar on the theme "Restoring Ecosystem Diversity: A Critical Approach to Reclaiming Endangered Plant Species in Niger State" and a tree planting session where seedlings were donated to schools.
The NES Niger chapter, along with other partners in environment and climate action within the government, private individuals and Non governmental organisations participated in the event.
A communiqué with recommendations from key seminar participants is being prepared to guide Niger State in its efforts toward effective climate action and city greening initiatives.

LOC meeting between NES Niger Chapter and other stakeholders for the preparation of World Environment Day (WED) celebration which is slated for 5th June, 2024.
The Stakeholders are representatives from Hyperdec, Niger State Environmental Protection Agency (NISEPA), Niger State Ministry of Environment, National parks Service, Nigerian Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA), National Park Service.

Nigeria Environmental Society Niger State Chapter was represented by the Chairman and PRO at the first meeting for the establishment of Environmental Impact Assessment Practitioners of Nigeria Niger State chapter.
The meeting had in attendance major Stakeholders in the environmental and Impact Assessment Sector from educational institutions in the state and various other departments and Ministries.
The meeting was impactful and enlightening as all the attendees shared important perspectives especially as it regards to policies that will strengthen the environmental Impact Assessment and also checkmate the activities of quacks within the system.
The meeting ended with the nomination of a chairman and secretary for the Association
