OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM KUMA CHIEFDOM

Kuma Chiefdom, under the Royal Authority of His Royal Highness, Alh. Adamu J. Gambo, wishes to categorically debunk reports circulating on TikTok, WhatsApp and other social media platforms alleging that the sum of ₦20 million was paid, demanded, negotiated or used as settlement in connection with a matter involving the traditional institution and a woman.

The Kuma Chiefdom states unequivocally that no such ₦20 million settlement took place. The allegation is false, misleading and has no factual basis in what transpired.

The matter arose following a complaint brought forward by a family concerning circumstances involving a woman. In the interest of peace, reconciliation and community harmony, Hon. Abana Baduku and Alh. Yunusa Jibo Lekitaba intervened as mediators.

As part of the intervention, the relevant parties were consulted, their respective accounts were heard, and efforts were made to establish the facts and prevent the matter from escalating into further disagreement.

Following the consultations, the affected family was given the opportunity to consider the matter and subsequently chose forgiveness and peaceful resolution.

For the avoidance of doubt, no ₦20 million was demanded, negotiated, paid, received or used as a settlement at any stage of the matter.

The Kuma Chiefdom therefore firmly rejects the allegation of a ₦20 million settlement and urges members of the public, media practitioners and social-media users to exercise restraint and verify information before publishing or circulating claims capable of damaging the reputation and dignity of individuals and the traditional institution.

The Kuma Chiefdom remains committed to peace, reconciliation, justice, responsible traditional leadership and the protection of the dignity of all persons.

The general public is hereby advised to disregard the alleged ₦20 million settlement report, as it is false and misleading.

Taraba State is 34.

We commemorate thirty-four years of our existence as a State today - the nature's gift to the Nation.

Taraba is referred to as "Nature's gift to the nation" partly due to its rich cultural diversity and numerous ethnic groups — from Jukun to Mumuye to Hausa to Fulani to Mambila and many others.

We have successfully navigated numerous evolving phases and have emerged as a comprehensive Investment ecosystem to the global community — positioning the Northeast region of Nigeria as a prime destination for prosperity.

Taraba State has transcended its former status as a subset of the old Gongola state, evolving into an economic powerhouse worthy of recognition.

The development of the Taraba State we envision, is ongoing and we will continue to build it collectively.

We have effectively showcased the new 'Taraba' to the World and it is no longer business as usual — and we are open to business with local and foreign partners.

We have enhanced our infrastructures, Agriculture and education remains our top priority for the younger generation.

Today is another day to evaluate our journey of development and greatness, and surely we are on the pathway to becoming a developed society.

Happy anniversary, Taraba State.

God bless the People of Taraba State.
God bless Nigeria
