CATHOLIC YOUTH ORGANISATION OF NIGERIA, ST. PAUL'S MISSION TIONSHA, MAKURDI.
OFFICIAL STATEMENT REGARDING IMPERSONATION AND UNAUTHORIZED CONTENT USE.
The above organization has been made aware of a highly concerning and deceptive post published by an entity calling itself the "Takuruku Entertainment Group," an organization whose activities and nature are completely unknown to us.
On October 15, 2025, members of our cultural troupe department were formally invited to perform a cultural dance presentation at the welcoming ceremony for foreign doctors (Surgeons-in-Action). This event was held at Bishop Murray Hospital, Makurdi, as part of the medical outreach program opening ceremony sponsored by the Catholic Bishop of Makurdi, Most Rev. Anagbe Wilfred Chikpa CMF.
During our performance at this official event, the aforementioned group covertly recorded our team. Subsequently, between November 18 and 19, 2025, the "Takuruku Entertainment Group" uploaded this video to their page. Crucially, they falsely claimed the performance as their own, misleading the public to believe their group was responsible for the dance.
This act of impersonation aligns with tactics commonly used by scammers to defraud unsuspecting victims. It is particularly disheartening to see such deceit at a time when the Christian Church is facing various challenges. This act by the "Takuruku Entertainment Group" has raised questions from church leaders, the higher body of the Youth organization, and other concerned members of the Christian community as to why a church organization would be affiliated with a secular group as such.
We have made diligent efforts to courteously contact the alleged leader of this suspected scam group, a Mr. Stephen, and requested the immediate deletion of the unauthorized post. Unfortunately, all attempts at communication have been met with an abusive response.
We hereby unequivocally state the following:
1. We have absolutely no affiliation whatsoever with the "Takuruku Entertainment Group" and are unaware of what their group truly represents.
2. Our members maintain no affiliation with any secular group.
3. While the Church encourages cultural expression, the messages conveyed through the songs accompanying our dances consistently preach good morals and Christian values. These messages do not reflect the identity or motives of this group.
While we explore legal avenues to approach this matter and continue to pray for the suspected group's repentance, we strongly urge the public to distance themselves from the "Takuruku Entertainment Group." We caution that any organization built on such foundational lies and deceit poses a risk, and we plead with the public not to fall victim to any potential scams or fraudulent activities they may be involved in.
May God continue to protect the Christian faith during these trying times and grant us the grace to love one another. Amen.
