As part of the follow-up activities from the capacity-strengthening training on the Prevention of and Response to Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PRSEAH), Hope and Care Foundation (HCF), alongside other participants, conducted a community awareness outreach at the International Modern Market IDP Camp in Benue State.

The outreach created a platform for meaningful engagement with camp leaders and displaced persons on safeguarding, protection from sexual exploitation and abuse, gender-based violence (GBV), and the rights of survivors to access support services. Discussions focused on promoting respectful behaviour, strengthening community awareness of reporting mechanisms, and enhancing understanding of available referral pathways for survivors.

Through interactive sessions, participants were encouraged to play an active role in preventing abuse, supporting vulnerable individuals, and fostering a culture of accountability within the camp. The engagement also highlighted the importance of survivor-centred approaches that ensure confidentiality, dignity, safety, and non-discrimination in accessing assistance.

The activity contributed to HCF's commitment to strengthening community protection systems, promoting safeguarding standards, and creating safer environments where women, girls, men, and boys can live free from abuse, exploitation, and harassment.

Hope and Care Foundation (HCF) participated in a one-day review meeting on menstrual and menopausal health organized by Okaha Women and Children Development Organisation (OWACDO) under the Voices of Change Project.

The meeting brought together civil society organizations (CSOs), media practitioners, and other key stakeholders to assess progress made, review research findings, and explore practical strategies for promoting greater male involvement in supporting the menstrual and menopausal health needs of women and girls.

The engagement provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, strengthened collaboration among stakeholders, and reinforced the importance of addressing social norms and misconceptions that negatively affect the health and well-being of women and girls. Discussions highlighted the need for sustained advocacy, community engagement, and inclusive approaches to improve access to information, support services, and dignified care.

As part of its commitment to gender equality, health promotion, and community development, Hope and Care Foundation remains dedicated to advancing initiatives that foster inclusive dialogue, challenge harmful stereotypes, and promote the health, dignity, protection, and empowerment of women and girls across Benue State. This commitment aligns with HCF's strategic goal of improving health outcomes, strengthening community resilience, and advocating for the rights and well-being of vulnerable populations.

On 9 June 2026, Hope and Care Foundation (HCF) conducted a community sensitization campaign on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and the Prevention of and Response to Sexual Misconduct (PRSM) at the International Market Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Benue State.

The sensitization aimed to strengthen community awareness of safeguarding principles, reporting and referral mechanisms, survivor-centered support services, and individual responsibilities in preventing abuse, exploitation, and misconduct. Through interactive discussions and information-sharing sessions, participants gained a better understanding of their rights, available protection services, and the importance of speaking up against all forms of violence and misconduct.

The activity increased awareness among camp residents on GBV prevention and PRSM measures, improved knowledge of available reporting channels and support services, and encouraged greater community participation in promoting safety, dignity, and accountability within the camp. Participants also demonstrated an enhanced understanding of how to identify, report, and respond appropriately to protection concerns.

This intervention aligns with Hope and Care Foundation's strategic goals of promoting protection, safeguarding vulnerable populations, strengthening community resilience, and ensuring that women, children, and other at-risk groups live in safe and supportive environments.
