NEDC DISTRIBUTES RELIEF MATERIALS TO VICTIMS OF ATTACKS IN BORNO STATE

The North-East Development Commission (NEDC), in line with the pronouncement of the Vice President Kashim Shettima and its mandate to support humanitarian response efforts, has distributed relief materials to victims affected by the Maiduguri multiple bomb blast incidents and insurgency attacks in Gwoza/Ngoshe, Monguno, and Kukawa.

The items were presented by the NEDC Borno State Coordinator, Engr. Mohammed Umar, on behalf of the Managing Director/CEO, Mohammed G. Alkali, at the Commission’s warehouse in Maiduguri.

Items Donated
• Rice (25kg) – 2,000 bags
• Spaghetti/Pasta – 2,000 cartons
• Vegetable Oil – 400 gallons
• Sugar (50kg) – 100 bags
• Mats – 1,000 pieces
• Women’s wrappers – 500 pieces
• Men’s wears (brocade) – 500 pieces
• Children’s wears – 500 pieces
• Blankets – 2,000 pieces

• Zinc – 1,000 bundles
• Ceiling – 5,000 pieces
• Timber – 10,000 pieces
• Rods – 2,000 pieces
• Nails – 1,000 cartons

Financial Support
• N50,000 to each household of deceased victims
• N30,000 to each hospitalized victim

NEDC flags-off kidney awareness campaign/outreach

The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) collaborates with the Nigerian Association of Nephrology (NAN), UMTH Chapter on a bid to curb kidney diseases in Maiduguri.

The MD/CEO, NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, who is ably represented by Borno State Coordinator Engr. Muhammad Umar Wasada emphasized the importance of such a programme as a life-saving and urged the stakeholders to utilise what NEDC donates appropriately for the Commission is all-ready to provide assistance to kidney patients and the UMTH.

Speaking at the event, the president of NAN appreciates the NEDC's stride in most of its affairs that touches livelihoods.

Borno State Office Undertook Assessments on the Yesterday's Multiple Bomb Blasts that Occurred Across Different Areas in Maiduguri.

The Borno State Office of the North East Development Commission has undertaken an on-the-spot assessments of the multiple bomb blasts incidents which claimed the lives of several people and dozens injured.

A team from the State Office has visited the scenes at Monday Market and UMTH where su***de bombers detonated Improvised Explosive Devices. The team met with emergency services including the Nigeria Police Force Explosive Ordinance Devices team, BOSEPA and other paramedics who coordinating the response to the bomb blast incidents.

The team also visited UMTH and Borno State Specialist Hospital Maiduguri to meet with authorities in order to take stock of the casualties and injured persons who have been affected by the blast.

The team met with the CMDs of both health institutions and received briefings on the conditions of the victims addmited in their facilities.

There are no official statements on the number of people who were killed by the blasts so far. Several people are believed to have lost their lives.

NEDC Brings Succour to Victims ofCustom Market Mosque Bomb Blast.

The North-East Development Commission has provided humanitarian assistance including food items to the victims of Bomb blast, which occurred in a crowded Mosque at custom Market.

The blast left five people dead, and several others wounded, which had been hospitalised at different health facilities in Maiduguri, Borno State capital.
A delegation led by the Borno State Coordinator, Engr. Mohammed Umaru, FNSE, was at the health centres to commiserate with the victims for having gone through the horrible experiences and prayed for their quick recoveries.

The management of the Commission approved the distribution of essential food items to cover each affected family's two months food ration. This intervention is crucial to allow for the victims' the needed time to recover without having to worry about their households' food needs.
Each affected persons, including the families of the those who had died received the followin:
1. Rice(25kg) - 4 bags
2. Pasta/Spaghetti- 4 cartons
3. Vegetable oil(5L)- 4 gallons.
The beneficiaries thanked the Commission for the humanitarian assistance extended to them.

The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) lead by Borno state Coordinator Engr. Mohammed Umaru has Visited the popular Custom market for on the spot assessment of the Mosque and two Hospitals were victims are receiving medical attention and are recovering.
