Happy World Humanitarian Day 2026

Today, we honour the spirit of humanity, compassion and solidarity that brings people together in times of need.

World Humanitarian Day reminds us that every person deserves dignity, hope, protection and the opportunity to live a better life. It is a moment to recognise the courage and dedication of humanitarian workers, volunteers, partners and communities who continue to make a difference, often in challenging circumstances.

At YIPDI, we remain committed to strengthening local communities, empowering young people and promoting positive change through inclusive and sustainable solutions.

Together, let us strengthen global solidarity, empower local action and build a more peaceful, resilient and inclusive world.

Happy World Humanitarian Day 2026.

Promoting Well-Being and Life Skills for Children and Adolescents

Every child deserves a safe space to learn, play, express themselves, and build the confidence to thrive.

Through our Psychosocial Support (PSS) activities, children and adolescents aged 5–17 years engage in structured sessions, unstructured play, and life-skills activities that promote emotional well-being, positive social interaction, creativity, and positive behaviour.

The programme also provides adolescents with practical, hands-on learning opportunities. Girls participate in liquid soap and germicide production and knitting, while boys receive barbing skills training. Through practical demonstrations, participants are able to learn by doing, develop confidence, and gain skills that can support greater independence and future opportunities.

From play and creative expression to practical skills acquisition, these activities provide young people with opportunities to learn, connect, grow, and build resilience.

Implemented by YIPDI with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

Every child out of school is a future at risk—but together, we can change that.

Our Back-to-School Campaign at Hausari Primary School, Bama, brought hope to children and families through the distribution of essential scholastic materials.

The event was graced by the Education Secretary of Bama, the representative of the Shehu of Bama, the Bama SEMA Chairman, Bulamas, and other key stakeholders, demonstrating a shared commitment to improving access to education.

During the campaign, 30 pupils received scholastic materials directly, while supplies for another 70 pupils were officially handed over to the LGA Education Team for onward distribution, ensuring that more children are prepared to return to the classroom.

Every school bag, every notebook, and every pen is an investment in a child’s future. Together, we are giving children the opportunity to learn, dream, and thrive.
