Street Child of Nigeria

Street Child of Nigeria We are working to ensure all children are safe, in school and learning, especially in low-resource and emergency situations.

Every child deserves to arrive at school ready to learn.

Street Child's Education For Every Child Today (EFECT) programme, a partnership with Education Above All Foundation's Educate A Child programme, works to ensure every child can access quality primary education – no matter their circumstances.

Since the programme began, EFECT has enrolled 44,697 out-of-school children in Nigeria alone – and as we near the end of the programme, we're making sure every one of them has the tools to thrive.

We are excited to share an important milestone — we have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Commission for Almajiri and Out of School Children Education (NCAOOSCE).

This is a significant achievement for us and an important step forward in strengthening efforts around education access, inclusion, and support for vulnerable children.

Partnering with the National Commission for Almajiri and Out of School Children Education is especially meaningful because of the critical role the Commission plays in addressing one of Nigeria’s most pressing educational challenges — ensuring that Almajiri and out-of-school children are not left behind.

This collaboration reinforces our commitment to:
✅ advancing inclusive education
✅ supporting meaningful interventions for children
✅ working with key stakeholders for greater impact
✅ contributing to long-term change in communities

We are proud of this progress and look forward to what this partnership will achieve.

Together, we can do more.

Today, on International Women’s Day, we recognise the incredible impact of women and girls in shaping stronger, more resilient communities. 🌍

From classrooms to community leadership, women play a vital role in advancing education, protecting children, and driving sustainable development.

At Street Child, we work alongside inspiring women—teachers, mothers, field workers, and community leaders—who are championing access to education and opportunity for every child.

Empowering women and educating girls is not just the right thing to do—it is essential for lasting change.

Strengthening partnerships for Sustainable Impact in Adamawa State.

Our Country Director Jumai Lawan Musa paid a strategic visit to Key Government Stakeholders including the Honourable Commissioner for Education, the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board and the Director of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency.

These engagements focused on deepening collaboration, aligning priorities and reinforcing our shared commitment to improving access to quality education and essential health services for children and vulnerable communities.

We are grateful for the warm reception and continued partnership as we work together to build resilient systems that serve every child.

Today on , we join our fellow Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict members and demand an end to the use of children in armed conflict.

Street Child works with children associated with armed groups in several countries, but today we want to highlight our work in North East Nigeria, where children face daily threats to their safety, with armed conflict exposing them to abduction, exploitation and the loss of education.

Aisha and Bello* escaped armed groups in North East Nigeria after spending years in captivity. With support from Street Child of Nigeria, they were able to reintegrate into their communities and begin rebuilding their lives — including Bello’s enrolment back into school.

So far, thanks to our incredible supporters, Street Child has reached over 50,000 children in Nigeria with protection services.

Read more about Aisha and Bello's story, first reported by
The Times and The Sunday Times, in our latest blog: https://www.street-child.org/news-media/red-hand-day-protecting-children-from-armed-conflict-in-nigeria/

“The project may be ending, but what we have learned will remain with us.”

These were the words echoed by community members during the NHF VII Project close-out in Damasak and Maiduguri.

From beneficiary testimonies to stakeholder discussions, the close-out events highlighted how collaboration and community ownership can create lasting change.

We are grateful to Protection Without Borders (POWIB), community leaders, and government stakeholders for their shared commitment to protecting children and vulnerable populations in Borno State.

We are proud of the impact made and grateful to everyone who contributed to making communities safer and stronger.
