BOSYPA Calls for Enhanced Humanitarian Action and Empowerment - August 19, 2024
As the world marks World Humanitarian Day today, the Borno State Youth Progressive Association (BOSYPA) joins the global community in recognizing the sacrifices and contributions of humanitarian workers who risk their lives to save others.
However, we also use this opportunity to draw attention to the pressing humanitarian needs in Borno State, which has been ravaged by insurgency and conflict. Our state is home to millions of displaced persons, widows, and orphans who require urgent assistance.
BOSYPA Calls for:
1. Enhanced Humanitarian Action: We urge local and international organizations to scale up their humanitarian efforts in Borno State, particularly in the areas of food security, shelter, healthcare, and education.
2. Empowerment of Youths:
We advocate for the empowerment of young people in Borno State through skills acquisition, education, and economic opportunities. This will help them become self-sufficient and contribute to the state's rebuilding process.
3. Support for IDPs and Host Communities:
We appeal for increased support for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and host communities, who are facing immense challenges in accessing basic necessities like food, water, and shelter.
BOSYPA Commits to:
1. Volunteerism:
We pledge to mobilize our members to volunteer in humanitarian efforts, supporting aid distribution, community outreach, and advocacy.
2. Advocacy:
We will continue to advocate for the rights and needs of affected communities, ensuring their voices are heard by policymakers and humanitarian actors.
As we mark World Humanitarian Day, BOSYPA reiterates its commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts in Borno State. We call on all stakeholders to join us in this endeavor, ensuring that our state receives the necessary support to recover and rebuild.
Signed,
Barrister Bukar Alhaji Maina Esq
