Powering Change Through Knowledge

Sustainable clean cooking doesn’t end with technology—it starts with people who know how to use, maintain, and support it.
As part of our ongoing clean cooking work, we recently conducted a hands‑on training for staff and cookstove technicians on the ECOCA Solar Electric Cooker.
Technicians and field staff engaged directly with the technology, assembling, repairing, and cooking with the ECOCA system, building confidence through real-world, practical learning.
With partnership coordination support from the SOLCO Partnership and technical expertise from ECOCA ApS, the training focused on troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and effective user engagement to ensure the cookers remain functional and trusted at the household level.

Our team is now better equipped to provide continuous technical and user support, helping households adopt clean, safe, and energy‑efficient cooking solutions that fit their daily needs.

This collaboration, implemented with Mission Øst , , PESITHO ECOCA ApS and CSR Solutions and funded by the of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, the Bosch Foundation , and the IKEA Foundation demonstrates how strong partnerships turn innovation into lasting community impact.

When local capacity and strong partnerships come together, clean cooking solutions can truly scale and endure.

Every step should be safe… yet hidden dangers still threaten lives and limit access to homes, schools, and livelihoods.

Landmines and unexploded ordnance continue to put communities at risk—but there is hope. Mine action saves lives, clears land, raises awareness, and helps survivors rebuild their futures.
Peace becomes possible when safety is restored.

Now is the time to act. Raise your voice, support our call, and be part of creating safer communities for all.
"Invest in Peace. Invest in Mine Action."

We recently received an on-site visit from the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering under the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to assess our systems for preventing money laundering, financing of terrorism, and proliferation financing.

The visit provided an opportunity to present our internal compliance structures, including our risk management processes, due diligence procedures, and monitoring systems. GISCOR has established a strong compliance framework with a designated focal person responsible for coordinating all compliance activities and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

The visit provided valuable insights that will further strengthen our systems, and we remain fully compliant while continuing to uphold strong standards of transparency and accountability in all our operations.

As part of our stakeholder engagement, we had a productive meeting with the Borno State Agency for Great Green Wall, alongside our donor and partners Mission Øst, PESITHO (ECOCA), and CSR Solutions, led by our Executive Director, Mr. Kaumi Wakil, to advance the “Just Transition to Solar Electric Cooking” project.

From Monguno to Maiduguri and Jere, solar cookstoves are transforming lives by providing a clean, safe, and sustainable alternative to firewood and charcoal. This innovation is helping to protect the environment, reduce deforestation, and enhance the safety and dignity of women and girls.

We are encouraged by the strong commitment and support demonstrated by the Director General, Amb. Usman Aliyu , and the entire team at the Agency, as well as their readiness to adopt and scale this initiative in delivering climate-smart solutions that build safer, healthier, and more resilient communities.

Clean energy. Safer lives. Sustainable future.

We joined partners in the Mine Action AoR Northeast to commemorate the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action under the theme “Invest in Peace; Invest in Mine Action.”
This moment remains a call to action; peace cannot thrive where communities live in fear of explosive hazards. Clearing contaminated land is not only a safety measure but also a critical step toward restoring livelihoods, enabling development, and rebuilding hope.
We call on governments, donors, and partners to increase investment in mine action and prioritize the safety of affected communities.
We remain committed to supporting initiatives that save lives, promote safe environments, and strengthen community resilience. Together, we can build a future where peace truly flourishes.

Landmines and unexploded ordnance still threaten lives, limit access to livelihoods, and delay recovery in affected communities.
Mine action is more than clearance; it is about saving lives, restoring dignity, and enabling safe, resilient communities.

Kaumi Wakil Wakil stands as a distinguished leader in the humanitarian sector, uniquely positioning the Network of Civil Society Organisations Borno State (NECSOB) at the forefront of international discourse. As a Global IDP Advisory Board member representing Nigeria and a key representative for IDP-led organizations within the Global IDP Advisory Group, Kaumi bridges the gap between grassroots realities in Borno and high-level global policy. His candidacy for Deputy Executive Director Humanitarian offers NECSOB an unparalleled opportunity to leverage these international platforms to amplify the voices of local actors, ensuring that the specific challenges of Northeast Nigeria are met with globally-informed, locally-driven solutions.
By integrating his global competencies with his extensive experience implementing humanitarian projects in Borno, Kaumi will focus on institutionalizing best practices in protection and durable solutions for displaced populations. He aims to strengthen the technical capacity of member CSOs, fostering a culture of excellence that aligns with international standards while maintaining deep community trust. Through his leadership, Kaumi will champion a "localization-first" agenda, advocating for increased direct funding and meaningful participation of Borno-based organizations in the global humanitarian architecture, thereby securing a more resilient and self-sustaining civil society ecosystem.
Electing Kaumi Wakil means entrusting the network to a leader who not only understands the realities on the ground but also commands the global platforms needed to drive meaningful change. His vision, experience, and commitment to localization will position NECSOB as a stronger, more influential force in advancing humanitarian impact across Borno State and beyond.

In Loving Memory of Our Staff Member

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dear staff member, Miss Laraba John Yathuma.
Miss Laraba served the organization with dedication and commitment for over nine (9) years, making meaningful contributions to the protection and well-being of vulnerable communities. Her passion for humanitarian service, professionalism, and kindness will always be remembered by those who had the privilege of working with her.

She sadly passed away on Sunday, 15 March 2026, after a brief illness.

Her passing is a great loss not only to our organization but also to the many communities she served with compassion and integrity.

We kindly ask that you keep her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May her soul rest in perfect peace.

Management.
