📚As we celebrate the resumption of schools across Nigeria today, we acknowledge the government's commendable efforts in providing education to IDPs in affected regions. However, over 4,000 children and adolescents in Elmiskin IDP camp are not enrolled in formal schools, and this is a cause for concern.
📝 We have observed the challenges faced by the children who are not enrolled in formal schools, despite the informal education we have been providing through our Street2school program and that of organizations like Rise To Inspire Africa Initiative - RIA Initiative & Luminous Future Initiative. Therefore, we strongly emphasize the urgent need for formal education for the children and adolescents in the camp.
🤝 As a youth-led social enterprise, we are committed to collaborating with relevant agencies and stakeholders to address the education needs of IDPs in the Elmiskin camp. We believe that a collaborative approach is essential in providing sustainable and effective solutions to the education needs of IDPs.
🙏 We call on all stakeholders to prioritize the education needs of IDPs in Nigeria, particularly in the Elmiskin camp. We urge the government to work with NGOs and civil society organizations to establish formal schools or provide support for informal education initiatives in the camp. Together, we can provide sustainable and effective solutions to the education needs of IDPs and secure a better and brighter future for all.
