CELEBRATING NIMC DAY: EVERY IDENTITY COUNTS πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬

Today, Novel Alliance for Development Aid - NADA joins the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in celebrating NIMC Day and honoring the vital work being done to ensure that the identity of every Nigerian counts.

From birth and throughout every stage of life, having a recognized identity opens the door to essential services, opportunities and meaningful participation in national development. Indeed, every identity counts.

As part of the celebration, NADA joined NIMC and other stakeholders in sensitizing residents of Maiduguri on the importance of obtaining their National Identification Number (NIN). We also paid a courtesy visit to the Shehu of Borno to appreciate his support and advocacy, while encouraging continued efforts to ensure that more people are reached, informed and able to register for their NIN.

NADA appreciates NIMC and all participating stakeholders, including the Shehu of Borno, FRAD Foundation, paramilitary personnel and the Nigerian Red Cross Society Borno Branch (NRC), for their contributions towards making this celebration meaningful and memorable.

Together, we continue to promote awareness, inclusion and a stronger identity system where every Nigerian counts.

Over the past three months, the Novel Alliance for Development Aid - NADA has been supporting women and girls through Women and Girls Safe Space (WGSS) life skills sessions under the NHF-10 project, implemented in consortium with Street Child of Nigeria.

Participants have explored practical skills including Taliya (local pasta), tailoring, liquid soap production, hand fan making, Umura, and Kuli Kuli-creating opportunities to build confidence, strengthen livelihoods, and promote self-reliance.

Today, we take you to Kwanan Yobe community for a closer look at one of these sessions: Taliya production.

Join our staff as we walk through the session and see how a simple skill can become a pathway to opportunity.

Every child deserves safety, dignity and a chance to grow up free from violence and fear.

Under the UNICEF-supported project, Novel Alliance for Development Aid - NADA Transitional Justice Officer, Mr. Babagana Amsami, led a roundtable discussion in Maiduguri with key stakeholders to explore the challenges surrounding the implementation of transitional justice and reintegration, and how these processes can better support children, families and conflict-affected communities.

Transitional justice is about more than addressing the past. It creates opportunities to promote accountability, healing, reconciliation and restoration of trust, while helping communities move towards peaceful coexistence. For children and other vulnerable groups, it strengthens the focus on protection, access to justice, meaningful participation and preventing further harm.

The discussion brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including government representatives, child protection actors, community leaders, security and justice institutions, civil society organizations and other relevant partners-all united by a shared responsibility to protect children and strengthen community resilience.

The conversations reminded us that lasting reintegration and recovery cannot happen in isolation. It requires collaboration, understanding and collective action.

Together, we can help create communities where children are protected, survivors are supported, trust is rebuilt and every child has the opportunity to heal, thrive and contribute to a more peaceful future.

Because protecting children today is an investment in peaceful communities tomorrow.

A moment to reflect, learn, appreciate, and finish strong!

We successfully concluded our Consortium Review Meeting under the NHF-10 Project, bringing partners together to reflect on progress, share lessons learned, address gaps, and strengthen collaboration.

Led by the Consortium Team Lead, the meeting was both impactful and resourceful, challenging all partners to take ownership of outstanding actions and deliver quality, accountable, and timely results as the project moves toward closure.

We sincerely appreciate United Nations OCHA through the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF) for its continued support, and our consortium partners- Street Child of Nigeria, Protection without Borders, and Cedar Foundation For Disability for their commitment, collaboration, and contributions toward reaching vulnerable communities.

Quality Over Quantity. Always - DAY2.

As we rounded off the review meeting, Mr. Elam of Street Child of Nigeria, our consortium team lead, emphasized an important message as the NHF-10 project approaches its conclusion: the quality of our work matters just as much as the targets we achieve.

He reminded the team that meeting targets should never come at the expense of quality service. Reaching a high number of beneficiaries with services that fall below the expected standard can undermine the very impact we are working to create and affect the confidence donors and communities place in us.

As the project draws to a close, he emphasize to all the partners (Street Child of Nigeria, Protection without Borders, Cedar Foundation For Disability, & Novel Alliance for Development Aid - NADA)- the focus remains clear: deliver quality, uphold our standards, protect our integrity, and leave behind work we can all be proud of.

Reviewing Progress. Strengthening the Work. Moving Forward Together.

As a consortium, we understand that good humanitarian work requires us to pause, reflect, and ask the important questions: What have we achieved? What challenges remain? And what can we do better?

Today marked Day 1 of our consortium review meeting under the NHF-10 project, bringing together Street Child of Nigeria, Protection without Borders, Cedar Foundation For Disability, and Novel Alliance for Development Aid - NADA.

Partners presented their achievements, shared experiences, and openly discussed areas where targets were not fully met. These discussions provided an opportunity to understand the gaps, identify lessons, and agree on practical ways to improve implementation.

The review also featured sessions on safeguarding, compliance, and communication & media, highlighting the importance of accountability, protection, and effective storytelling in humanitarian response.

Because reviewing the work is not about finding fault-it is about learning, improving, and becoming better at serving the communities we work with.

Building Healthier Relationships, Stronger Communities.

One of our objectives under the UNICEF-funded project is to promote healthier and more positive relationships-not only within families, but across the communities where we work.

Through our Gender Transformative Dialogue sessions with men and boys, our staff create safe spaces for open conversations, reflection, and learning around gender roles, respect, positive masculinity, and healthy relationships.

These conversations may start with one person, but the change we hope to see reaches families and the wider community.

We sincerely appreciate UNICEF and our valued partners for their support and for making this important work possible.
