Peace Ambassadors Center and Borno State Guidance Board Engage Youths on Development and Leadership
On Wednesday, 1st October 2025, as Nigeria celebrated its 65th Independence Anniversary, the Peace Ambassadors Center for Humanitarian Aid and Empowerment (PACHE), under the leadership of its President, Amb. Ahmed Shehu, in collaboration with the Borno State Guidance and Counselling Board, organized a special lecture and engagement session with members of the Borno Youth Advocates.
In his opening remarks, Amb. Ahmed Shehu highlighted the essence of the lecture, emphasizing the importance of investing in young people as agents of peace, unity, and community development. He noted that Nigeria’s Independence Day offers a moment of reflection on the role of youths in building a stronger and more prosperous society.
The lecture focused on youth development and leadership, featuring two key presentations. The Executive Secretary of the Borno State Guidance and Counselling Board, Professor Mohammed Abba Jimme, spoke extensively on the roles and potentials of young people. He urged them to embrace self-discovery and seize opportunities for personal and collective growth. He also encouraged active participation by opening the floor for comments, questions, and clarifications.
On his part, Amb. Abubakar Abdullahi Suleiman of the Center for Social Cohesion and Empowerment delivered a paper on the role of youths in peacebuilding. He stressed that young people are central to fostering lasting peace and stability in society, while also guiding them on goal setting and strategies for achieving success in both personal and community life.
The program also featured goodwill messages from stakeholders, including Hajiya Mario Bunu Lawan, who underscored the importance of empowering young people to actively contribute to nation-building.
As part of the day’s activities, the Borno Youth Advocates conducted elections for their new executive members, who were officially sworn in during the session. The newly elected leaders pledged to uphold the values of unity, peace, and community development, while serving as role models for their peers.
Delivering an appreciation message, the President of the Borno Youth Advocates, Kolomi, expressed gratitude to Amb. Ahmed Shehu for his effective coordination, and to all stakeholders for dedicating their time to mentor and inspire the youths. He described the lecture as insightful and impactful, noting that the knowledge gained would serve as a guide in their journey of self-discovery and development.
Both PACHE and the Borno State Guidance and Counselling Board reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining partnerships that will guide young people in Borno towards self-discovery, empowerment, and responsible leadership.
