WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL DAY 2023 with the theme: Beat Plastic Pollution encourages worldwide awareness and action for protecting and preserving the environment through beating of plastic pollution.
Plastic pollution is a global crisis, solving it requires global approach. Everyone has role to play in protecting our Environment. People, Government and Industries must drive change through committing to sustainable actions, using our choices to drive change, pushing for the changes needed to a less plastic dependent economy, investing in proper infrastructure, redesigning regulations etc.
Green Plantation and Environmental Action Initiative (GPEAI) in it effort to mitigate the effects of plastic pollution join other CBOs in Maiduguri and visit schools and communities within Maiduguri Borno State to advocate for free plastic environment and to adopt the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle system of plastic waste management.
Communities were also enlightened on the effect of climate change and how plastic waste contribute to global warming. Trees were also planted at the end of the program to mark the World Environmental Day 2023.
